Fallen (Taekook)

CH 16 - Seven

It had been two weeks ago when Jimin suggested that the angels bring their friends together and hear directly from Namjoon. It took time to coordinate everyone's schedule, but Yoongi arrived shortly after Jimin contacted him. He didn't enjoy being back in the city, but being in Jimin's arms each night made it easier to bear. Jin arrived a week later, after finding suitable back-up to keep an eye on the celestials. At that point, Yeonjun temporarily moved into Soobin's dorm room to leave the extra room for Jin and prevent any unnecessary questioning.

Namjoon finally arrived a week after Jin, and was surprised to see everyone in Taehyung's apartment. Clearing his throat, he greeted his friends. "I didn't realize we were all gathering."

Jin smiled mischievously, "Was I supposed to tell him?" He shrugged his shoulders and stifled a giggle.

Hobi narrowed his eyes at Jin, "Yes. You clearly said, 'I'll talk to Joonie. Otherwise he may not come for another decade.'"

They all knew that trying to schedule a meeting with Joon could be difficult, as he is frequently running errands for Him or in meetings or fulfilling one of his many tasks. It was a rare occurrence when they could all be together.

Jungkook had been shyly hanging behind Taehyung when the new angel arrived. Jungkook was an introvert and grew more withdrawn whenever he met someone new. Though somehow he immediately hit it off with Jin, and the two were constantly messing with each other in playful ways. Surprisingly, before Taehyung got the chance to introduce his love to Joon, Jin pulled Jungkook forward. "Joonie, this is Jungkook. He is the sweetest, most precious human I've ever met and we need to protect him at all cost."

Namjoon looked displeased, but seeing Jin's serious gaze he tried to relax. He knew well what was at stake. He had hoped not to meet the human at the center of Taehyung's troubles. It definitely was going to complicate things further if they all loved the young man. He reached a hand out, knowing that this was a customary human thing to do, and gave Jungkook a firm handshake, and they both bowed to each other.

Jungkook was a bundle of nerves even though Taehyung reassured him that Namjoon was not going to judge him. He already felt judged in so many ways, but never from the angels. It was his own mind that judged himself for getting Taehyung in trouble. However, Taehyung's angel friends all turned out to be very nice and treated him well. So his hands were sweating a little when he shook Namjoon's hands, but he managed to speak without stuttering. "It's nice to finally meet you. I've been so happy to meet all of Taehyung's friends. They've all said so many things about you, especially Jin."

Namjoon turned toward his love and shot him a look, but then a broad smile crossed his face showing off his dimples. "It's very nice to meet you too. And so great to have all of us together. It's been a very long time."

The angels all nodded in agreement. It had been hundreds of thousands of years since they all were together. It was right after humans gained free will and took a bite of the forbidden fruit. Namjoon called the five other angels back to heaven for a meeting before being sent on their way again. The three working on Earth were updated on how their assignments would evolve after humans were kicked out of the Garden of Eden. However none of them would have imagined how much change would be coming.

Taehyung and Jungkook offered the angels wine and snacks as they gathered around the dining room table. They were quietly enjoying their drinks when Yoongi spoke up. "I don't understand many of His plans, but I especially don't get why Taehyung was left to try counteracting humans natural tendencies towards destruction."

All eyes turned to Yoongi as he continued, "You all know that I am not especially fond of these creatures." Jungkook couldn't help but flinch slightly at his words. "There are good individuals," Yoongi continued while looking at Jungkook. "But as a species, they are unmanageable."
