CH 32 - Demoted

Jungkook and Taehyung were out at dinner for their fourth anniversary. After the waiter poured them each a glass of champagne, Taehyung raised his glass for a toast and prior to clinking glasses Jungkook asked, "Are you still happy to be married to me?"

"Baby, I am beyond happy. I would marry you again and again." Taehyung smiled at his husband, but then his eyebrows came together as he saw the younger pout. "What's wrong love?"

"I feel like I've neglected you this past year. I've been spending too much time in the studio and not enough time showing you how much I love you." Jungkook pouted as he spoke.

"Kookie, I'm proud of you and your success that was all due to your hard work. You are an amazing artist and the art community rightfully has taken notice." Taehyung squeezed his love's hand for reassurance.

"But I feel like I'm missing what is really important." Jungkook chewed on his bottom lip as he looked across the table at his true love. "And you keep leaving to work with Jimin and Yoongi in Mexico. I hope you're not running away from me."

"I've been giving you space because I know you don't need distractions when you have deadlines to meet. Any time you want me to stick around, you just have to say the word. I'll spend so much time with you that you'll get tired of me." 

"I will never get tired of you. I miss you." Jungkook reached across the table and squeezed his love's hand. "I think I need to stop doing shows."

"You think so? What will your agent say?"

"I don't care. I mean I do, but it's not that important. Besides, I've got enough commissions right now to keep be busy for the next five years." Bringing Taehyung's hand to his lips, Jungkook kissed his fingers. "Maybe we can take a road trip somewhere? Just the two of us."

"I like that idea. We can go to Yosemite or the Redwoods or Grand Canyon. I'd love to get away with you for as long as you'd like. Where would you like to go, Kookie?"

"Yosemite would be nice. We can go backpacking at King's Canyon and I can take some photos like Ansel Adams. Then we can get a cabin at Yosemite."

"When do you want to go?" 

"I've got the show at The Broad next week. So maybe the week after that?" Jugkook shrugged his shoulders. He'd been thinking about this for awhile and was happy that Taehyung was on board with his plans.

"Sounds good, baby. I'll make the arrangements while you get ready for your exhibition." Taehyung was already making plans in his head. He was excited by the prospect of getting some alone time with Jungkook without distractions.

After dinner, they headed back to their house and were surprised to find Namjoon waiting on their front porch. "What are you doing here?" Jungkook wondered out loud.
