Pete-Big trial day, context of the judges' verdict
Neutral point of view
It is almost 2 p.m. when the judges of the court return to the room to say their verdict. It was after nearly 6 hours of debates, testimonies, listening, crying, tensions, angry attacks that the judges were able to listen to both parties.
On the one hand: Pete, Kim and Vegas
On the other: Big, Ken, Arm, Pol.
Both sides had their own lawyers and all prepared well for this confrontation, yet there will be only one who will emerge victorious.
Pete hasn't slept for days, waiting for this time. He hopes that the court will give Big and his friends everything they deserve.
Vegas is at his side, always concretizing his relationship with him a little more.
Kim is also there to serve as a support.
Chay was left at home, judging that his presence is not necessary.
Everyone is holding their breath.
The first judge is about to speak.
- It is time for the court to deliberate, following all the testimonies we heard today. In the Pete Tongkham case against Big Wen, Pol Tai, Arm Sula and Ken Weng-Jiv, the themes dealt with are those of physical and verbal aggression, attempted group rape with premeditation, physical and moral harassment and espionage. Mr. Wen, after admitting to having paid someone to forward Mr. Tongkham, after admitting that he wanted to harm Mr. Tongkham and the late Mr. Porsche Tanaka, after admitting that you have twice tried to buy the complainant's silence, the Bangkok court sentences you to 9 months in prison and a fine of 1 million Baht.
Silence is required even if Pete smiles slightly. His dream of putting Big behind bars finally comes true but he keeps calm. Nothing is yet determined for the other three.
While Big displays a decomposed and devastated air, Pol stiffens when he hears:
- Mr. Tai... after admitting your responsibility for the attempted group rape with premeditation, after admitting to having acted under an impulse and not on the order of Mr. Wen, after admitting to having, on one occasion, tried to buy the complainant's silence, the Bangkok court sentences you to 6 months in prison and a fine of 300,000 Baht.
Pol and Big exchange a look. Vegas, Kim and Pete do not grant them any, on the advice of their three lawyers together. No comment or inappropriate attitude should be made, on pain of being frowned upon. Pete and Vegas hold hands to go through this last stage together. The judge resumes:
- Mr. Sula, after admitting your responsibility, as an accomplice, in the attempted group rape with premeditation, after admitting to having, on a repeat attempt to buy the silence of the complainant, the Bangkok court sentences you to 3 months in prison and a fine of 150,000 Baht.
Arm is the one who is doing best at the moment because he simply « held » Pete in a restricted position. He did not concretely participate in his attempted rape...according to the judges....but according to Pete, Vegas and Kim, he should deserve another sentence, even greater, like Pol and Big for that matter.
Fortunately, the judge will give them satisfaction by pronouncing Ken's sentence.
- Mr. Weng-Jiv, after admitting your responsibility in the attempted group rape with premeditation, after admitting to having acted under an impulse and not on the order of Mr. Wen and after confessing to your flight from the territory when you were forbidden to leave it, the Bangkok court sentences you to three years in prison and a fine of 2 million Baht.
