Chapter 69: « You will submit to me, Pete. »

Neutral point of view

It's 7:30 p.m. when the restaurant where Pete works begins to open its doors.

Pete was asked to set up the rooms and supervise everything that happens in the restaurant.

Since Porsche's death, everything has been simplified to him.

His boss and colleagues support him unconditionally and it warms his heart.

He doesn't blame anyone for not having seen the hell he was living with Porsche.

Now he is grateful for everything he has.

Pete welcomes the first customers of the evening, with his partner Samantha.

He and the girl have become good friends but Pete is waiting to formalize his relationship with Vegas to introduce her to everyone.

For the moment it is not yet on the agenda since major obstacles will arise in front of Pete and Vegas.

Time and Tay enter the restaurant, hand in hand. It's not Pete who welcomes them but other servers.

They are given the menu card and time to order. Tay starts talking to pass the time.

- In fact, what is your plan?

Time takes Tay's hand in his own.

- I have to get close enough to Pete to gain his trust and collect evidence showing that he is participating in a set-up against my brother. I have to collect this evidence so that Dad can file a complaint against Pete, Vegas and Big for defamation and false accusation on the murder of Porsche.

Time is interrupted, the time for Samantha to drop off their drinks and leave.

He resumes:

- Dad is sure that Porsche and Pete did not live a perfect relationship that they claim to live. Big revealed details that could remake Pete the main suspect of Porsche's murder.

Tay listens carefully to what he said and asks his questions.

- But how can you be sure that you will not be unmasked?

- No one knows that I am Chan Wen's hidden son. Remember that he entrusted me to adoption after my mother, who was one of his mistresses, died. He regretted his gesture and took me back afterwards. I am Big's half-brother and no one is aware of this.

Time grabs his glass of champagne and toasts with Tay.

The two boys hit their champagne flutes, when Pete arrives at them to take their order.

Pete's head breaks down when he crosses Time's eyes.

- P'Time?!! (Pete bows slightly.) I...I didn't expect to...see you here...I...

Time smiles widely.

- It's that I set myself in mind to discover all the restaurants in Bangkok and... that this one is next on my list and I decided to come with my best friend and sex-friend Tay.

Pete turns his head towards Tay.

Pete also bows to Tay.
