"Ready for the Parthenon?" Eeli asks me. I am already bouncing on the balls of my feet. I don't know why he needs to ask me. He smiles at me and I know he already knows the answer.
"I was born ready." I look over at Kordelia. She's cuddling with Avory. She didn't want to get up this early but she knew she couldn't sleep in any more. Not with me bouncing around the room. She looks back at me. I grin. She gives me a thumbs up then goes back to cuddling with her boyfriend.
Eeli laces his fingers with mine.
"Good cause I was too," he says. I look
up at him. I know he's not as excited about this as I am but I love that's he's trying to seem interested.
"Did you know," I start. He looks down at me with a smile. He doesn't know, "there is a legend that Athena and Poseidon fought to be the patron deity of Athens."
"Let me guess," he says, "Athena won."
I nod. "They had a gift battle. Whoever gave the best gift would be patron. Athena gave them the olive tree, Poseidon gave them the saltwater spring. The Athenians knew the olive tree would be more helpful so they chose Athena. And named their town after her. Athens."
"Wow," Eeli said, "smarties." I giggle.
"Maybe that's why Athena liked them," I say, "she is the goddess of wisdom after all."
"Don't forget battle stategy," he adds. I smile. I've told him that a million times.
"Honestly, I think Athena and Poseidon are better as friends, not enemies."
"Percabeth?" He asks. I nod.
A taxi rolls up outside the hotel lobby.
"Party of four?" the taxi driver asks.
"That's us," I nearly scream out. I look back at Eeli. He smiles.
"Right this way please," he says a and we follow him out into the cab.
"Almost there," Eeli whispers into my ear as the car starts up and drives away, leaving the hotel behind.
