Button House had been quiet for the first time ever. Everyone was stuck in their own heads as they reflected on the past 24 hours. It wasn't just Mike and Alison who understood the traumatic event Violet had just been through. The ghosts knew too.
They heard everything on that phone call...
"Oh the telephone is ringing! Julian you must answer it!" Kitty said excitedly as she hovered around the landline phone in the house.
"Why does everyone expect me to do everything around here?" Julian complained yet he still went over to the phone and managed to get it on its side, pressing down on the answer button and even managed to put it on loudspeaker. He too couldn't handle the curiosity, perhaps it would be someone else he could mock.
"What did you do?"
Kitty and Julian heard a familiar voice ask over the phone.
"Hi Violet!! Julian it's Violet! I'm not quite sure what you mean though..." Kitty replied joyfully as ever, happy to hear her friend, but she must admit she was a bit confused, especially when a different voice replied.
"... the real question you should be asking is what did you do?"
"Who on earth is that?" Julian wondered out loud.
"Julian you're not fooling around with the telephone again are you?" Fanny quizzed as she entered the room.
"No of course not, I would never do such a thing. It's Violet on the phone, but there's someone else there. She's not answering us," he said back, upper lip folded down as he frowned in confusion.
The other ghosts soon poured into the room.
"Oh, everyone! Come over here, it's Violet on the phone!" Kitty said cheerily.
"But she's not answering," she said sadly afterwards."Like Kelly Jenkins?"
They all heard Violet question, not sure what she was going on about.
"Isn't that Kelly Jenkins the one that was here a month back?" Pat thought out loud.
"Oh, yeah, crazy lady, she was all like 'arrrghhh' and Violet like 'noooo'!" Robin added on, remembering clearly the crazy lady in the back garden.
"Violet, why are you asking us about Miss Jenkins?" the Captain tried asking through the phone, but he was met with no reply from the girl.
"Don't be silly you pillock we already said she's not talking to us," Julian rolled his eyes at the man.
"Well I'll have you know-"
"Perhaps she dids a butt dial?" Mary said, arms folded as she perched on the arm of the sofa, trying her best to listen in on the call over the incoming argument.
"Is this another one of your whimsical phrases Mary?" Thomas tilted his head at the woman.
"No, Violet tolds me bout it."
"You see Thomas, it means Violet accidentally called us," Pat began to explain.
"With her bottom, I presume," the Captain nodded, catching on.
"Her bottom on the phone, oh, no, I taught that girl far better than to be using her bottom-"
"That's enough Fanny!" Pat winced as he didn't want to be hearing anything of the sort.
"We're trying to listen here if you don't mind!" Julian raised his voice.
"... it's one of your freak things again isn't it! You always did this, since you were little, and you still haven't changed."
