"No way... Violet Goodall?" the man was shocked to see the face of the girl he used to go to school with. Well, he was shocked to see anyone in this room at all. After scanning the room for items to steal, some of which he had already grabbed, he was annoyed at himself that he hadn't seen the lump underneath the bedsheets. Once said lump moved, he was quick to stop them from getting in his way.
"Wait... Nev, Neville?" Violet was in pure shock. This is someone she used to sit next to in her English classes. Their mums knew each other. She hadn't heard his voice in a long time.
"How many times- my name is not Neville!" he retaliated back, Violet had subconsciously called him the same way she used to.
"Anyways," he continued, "how did you end up in such a lush place like this?"
Violet shoved him off of her. He was still the same idiot that she knew. Some people never change.
The situation she is in suddenly dawns on her.
"Nevermind that, what are you doing here?! Is that my necklace?" she was exasperated at this point, her face twisted into a frown.
"I dunno, it could be, just found it over there." he stupidly replies, holding it up whilst pointing behind him to the dressing table in Violet's room.
"That is mine! Give it here!" she manages to snatch it out of his hands and she holds it close to her heart. She would hate herself if something that belonged to her Nan was stolen and sold for petty cash.
Of course, he was back to his old tricks again.
"Don't tell me, you've been roped into doing someone else's dirty work again?!""Ay, you can't talk to me about dirty work. It's not easy living in our area. You're not that long past it, don't act like you're one of these poshos now!" Nev became angry. His 'dirty work' was helping put food on the table. How could Violet suddenly act like she's above him?
She was surprised to see he had grown a slight backbone.
Violet brushed off the comment, she could address that later.
"You need to tell me, right now, what you have gotten so far.""We just grabbed some stuff from downstairs in the kitchen. Cutlery and that." Nev answered, he had nothing to hide. In his opinion, he had the higher ground here.
Neither of them noticed someone peek their head through the door. Nev didn't notice anyways, he wouldn't have been able to see this person.
"Plates? Cups?" Violet interrogated him, all the time they spent earlier on in the day carrying the boxes inside, she wasn't going to let him walk away without getting any information out of him.
"Cups, candlesticks, some forks... but not plates," Nev said, recounting what they had taken so far in his head.
"Oh, well why don't you take the whole lot?" Violet rolled her eyes and questioned sarcastically. However the tone wasn't caught on by everyone.
Kitty gasped and ran away to inform the others of the ghastly betrayal she had just witnessed.
"I'm only getting what I've been told to look for." Nev pointed out, folding his arms.
"I can't believe this," Violet shook her head at him, "how did you even get to this point?"
"I didn't choose this path for me!"
"Yet you're still going along with it. You can ruin people's lives by doing this, yaknow?"
"You can't speak all righteously, don't act like just because you're in some posh mansion of a house that you've had everything and you're above everyone. You're just like the rest of us. You can't just forget where you came from." Nev argued with Violet, staring her down from where he was stood.
