"No need to worry young Violet, everything is under control," the Captain reassured her, standing to attention.
Violet had come across him as she went to look for Kitty. And now, here she was, sat down.
She wasn't doing enough.
Or at least, she didn't feel like she was.
She shouldn't be sat down when everyone else around the house has something to do. Sure, she had already been helpful today, but that wasn't a rational thought going through Violet's head at the moment.
"Are you sure?" she asked, a glint of hope in her eyes that the Captain didn't notice.
"Yes, yes, we have troops at the ready if anything was to go south," he said wistfully as he glanced out of the window.
Violet twiddled her fingers awkwardly.
"But I can-"
"Trust your Captain, dear girl," the Captain put her endless questions and insistence to a stop.
Violet sighed and went on to leave.
"You needn't worry, you have a place here, Violet," the Captain tried to help soothe her worries but Violet was so caught up in her own thoughts she just shook her head and left.

Violet came across Lady Button reading her novel, and thought, bingo!
"Hi Fanny," she broke Fanny out of her thoughts.
"Oh, dear, you scared me!" Lady Button jumped as she jolted away from her intense reading.
"Sorry, I just saw you reading and thought I could help," Violet inches nearer.
"Oh, well yes, that would be much appreciated dear, I'm just finishing-" Fanny said, but was cut off by Violet's rash actions.
"Great!" Violet didn't listen to the rest of what Fanny was saying and turned the page right then and there.
"Hope that helped!" Violet said and beamed as she walked away.
"No!" Fanny was beside herself. She didn't get to finish the pages she was reading and now she felt a disconnect in the story she had gotten so invested in.

Mary saw Violet leave and then enter the same hallway she was stood in.
"Oh, hi Mary! Anything you need help with?"
"Umm, well, err..." Mary muttered, wondering if there was anything.
"I could teach you a new recipe? Or you could teach me one? And I could make it for you?" Violet blurted out all the questions.
"Ummm..."
"Or we could tak about-"
"No!" Mary suddenly blurted, all the words and questions thrown at her being too much. She quickly walked through a wall to another room.
Violet put her head in her hands. Where was she going wrong? She felt like she was going above and beyond and it still wasn't helping.
And if she was putting in her best efforts and even that wasn't working, why try?
Violet shook her head to rid the troublesome thoughts. She needed to keep going.
Mindlessly wandering, once again, had led her to Pat.
