The Way of a Warrior (Rex x OC)

Back Again

A/N: Hey, it's been a hot minute. Hope you guys like it!

REX'S POV

"Where am I?" I asked, looking around at the room. I looked to the side and saw Matilda silently scrolling on her datapad. She looked up and said, "Rex calm down, you are in the med-bay because you were knocked unconscious." "Where's Midnight?" I started to get up. "She is-" she was cut off by something hitting the window. We saw Midnight falling past the window unmoving.

"Midnight!" I shrieked. "Let's get down there," Matilda said, running out of the med-bay. I ran as fast as I could to find Midnight. I threw open the doors and started running around the outside of the palace. Sweat ran down my forehead and my legs hurt. Finally I spotted Midnight's body laying on the wall of the palace. If she fell from that height she could die, but she was barely hanging on. "Kara, Matilda, I found her," I said into my comm. Soon the sisters came running towards me. "She's up there," I said before she had a chance to ask. They looked up just as Midnight's body slipped off the other side of the wall. Matilda was the first to make a move. She ran and jumped into the air, her wings exploded from her back and she disappeared behind the wall. After a couple minutes Matilda flew over the wall and headed straight to the castle. She came back holding a stretcher. "Kara, I need your help. Midnight's in critical condition," Matilda said as she flew past. Kara followed and when she got over the wall she was horrified. Midnight's body had hit the side of an outcropping ledge and a long sharp rock was sticking out of her abdomen. Her arm got dislocated and cut deep. They carefully put her on the stretcher and flew to the med-bay. After what felt like an eternity to Rex, Kara came out with some news.

"What's the news," Anakin asked, arms crossed in front of his chest.

"Ok well since she fought hard and used a lot of power but everything comes at a cost. When she fought Kiwano her powers took a hard hit and we don't know if all of her power will come back or if it will return at all. The injuries she sustained were very bad. It is very sketchy if she will make it," Kara finished and the new sunk into all of them."Doc we need you in surgery right away Midnight started seizing" a nurse called into the waiting room and Kara ran to the O.R. 

MIDNIGHT'S POV

A bright light surrounded me and I found myself in a white room with different colored and textured doors. I stood up and a voice sounded from my right."There is one who is lost and you need to bring her home," Midnight turned around and this weird floating figure with a yellowish light shining from her said. "Who are you?" Midnight asked.

"I am Serenity," The floating creature said.

Soon four others joined her, all of them with a different expression on their masks.

"Where am I?" Midnight asked."You're in the middle dimension," Serenity said.Midnight looked at Serenity with a look of confusion and said, "Middle dimension? What's that?""The place where every warrior goes before they die," Serenity explained."It's the place they go to alter what happens next in their life," the one with a smile on her face said, "I'm Joy!"

Midnight looked at Serenity and then at the doors. Six doors of various colors. Five doors with an altered future, the sixth the unaltered.

"Go, pick a door," Serenity said, pointing her hand towards the door. Midnight walked to the doors and opened the first one. A sad scene lay in front of her. It was if she went through this door a dark force would attack and some of her closest friends would die. The second door was confusing and she didn't even know what she was looking at. The third door was about people that were angry, doing random things for weird reasons. The fourth door was a peaceful happy scene where all of her friends lived and they were all happy. She was about to step through when she heard a muffled cry from the fifth. She looked to the right and saw the last door open on its own.

Midnight walked over and looked inside. There sat a hospital bed and another of herself in the bed. Rex' head was on her shoulder and he was crying. Midnight looked at the heart monitor and the flat line told her everything. She looked to the other Midnight's body and saw the injuries that were sustained and that were stitched up.

"Who's door is this?" Midnight asked Serenity.

"It's yours. It's what is really happening right now," Midnight looked from Serenity to the door and said. "This is it, I want this door," Midnight said determinedly. Serenity nodded and Midnight stepped through the door. A searing pain shot through her shoulder, then her abdomen, then her whole body hurt. Then blackness, Midnight turned to see Serenity but there was nothing. It was just her alone in an inky blackness. After a couple of minutes she saw a light peek through the darkness. Soon the light got brighter and brighter until shapes and people formed. A wetness covered her shoulder and a pressure that wasn't there before was noticeable. Midnight opened her eyes and took in a deep breath.

The crying stopped and the pressure went away.

"Midnight?" Rex's broken voice said to her right. She turned her head and smiled.

"I'm back"
