TRIGGER WARNING: This chapter contains, and mentions a description of dun violence as seen on Grey's Anatomy. Please proceed with caution.
Fight or flight, once fierce and bold,
Now tweaked, weary, growing old.
Response fading, losing it's might,
But resilience shines, a glimmer of light.
In the face of decay, we'll still hold tight. As Amory was helping out in the ER, just giving a kid some stitches after being paged by Bailey, she saw Dr. Burke being wheeled into the room, a gunshot wound on his chest.
"Oh, God." She whispered under her breath as she quickly finished her work." And that was it, Peter. See, not nearly as bad as you thought, right?" As the little boy gave her a smile, she ruffled his hair slightly and approached Dr. Bailey, now in trauma 1
"Dr. Bailey. When did you get here?" She heard Burk giggle as she entered the room.
"Page Shepherd." The Chief told her resident.
"Dr. Bailey, do you need me?" The intern spoke up, Cristina entering the room behind her.
"You're shot?!" The woman asked. "He's shot?" She turned to Bailey.
"Yang, we got it, it's okay." The intern left the room as the shorter girl repeated her question.
"Dr. Bailey, do you need me?"
"No, no, Madden. We've got it, please help out in the ER. With us all in here it'll get busy." Bailey knew that when she had an important task, she could count on the girl to get it done.
The intern nodded and quickly left the room, attempting to be as helpful as possible in the charting emergency room.

Later, as she helped out a resident in the ER, she heard her pager go off. Looking down, she had a 911 page from George. Worried, she quickly ran to the room the pag indicated, her mind running with possibilities. Once she noticed it was Denny's room, her worry grew further.
As she got to the room, she noticed all the blinds were shut. Worried, she knocked on the door and heard some panicked talking from the inside. "George? It's Amory." She whispered through the door. Amory thought of several hypotheses of what might be happening inside, but nothing could have prepared her for what she'd see.
Before she could even tell what had happened, she'd been pulled into the room by the boy. She let out a yelp but, as she saw the boy's face, her expression immediately became one of aggravated concern. That feeling only worsened as she looked through the room, filled with her friends. George had a worried and demoralized look on his face, she noticed first, followed by the slight panic in Meredith's eyes. After that, her eyesight followed to Cristina, who looked almost in a trance-like state, like she wasn't herself and did not want to be there. Finally, her eyes fell on Izzie, who manually pumped Denny's heart and the cut LVAD wire on the floor.
