... Is to become a better driver

Paxton and Jaya continue making out on his couch as his hands rest on her thighs. Their breathing is heavily when Jaya finally pulls away.

"Can I drive your car?" Jaya asks. "Can you teach me?"

Paxton stares into her eyes as his hands move up and down her thighs. "Yeah," he replies. "Wanna go now?"

"Really?" Jaya grins. "Yes!"

Paxton smiles. "Let's go."

They get up and they adjust themselves before going outside. Paxton tosses her his keys and he goes to the passenger's side door.

"You're driving then, Jay," he says. "Wanna drive to the pizza place?"

Jaya grins and she nods. She gets in behind the wheel of Paxton's car and she sits there.

"Are you okay?"

"I drive from Sherman Oaks to Malibu and then back, on the high way," Jaya says. "But now I'm nervous."

"What kind of car does your uncle have?"

"A Camaro."

"Ah. This is a bigger vehicle," Paxton says. "It's fine. It's basically just like driving the Camaro, just it handles differently." He reaches and touches his hand on Jaya's when hers is on the gear and he shows her how it's done. "Think you can handle it?"

Jaya nods. "I think so."

"Hey, wanna hang with me. Trent, Marcus, Jason, and Emmett tomorrow?" Paxton asks. "Jason's supposed to be asking Devi but..."

"I'd love to," Jaya says. "Haven't hung around Trent since that History project."

Jaya starts the Jeep and she swallows the lump in her throat. Paxton tells her what to do while she drives to the pizza place. They get a cheese pizza and head back.

Jaya lays in bed that night and she stares at the tall ceiling. Could this thing with Paxton ever become more? Sure, she's hanging out with him and a group tomorrow, but it'll be fun. Won't it? She gets up and goes down to the Hindi prayer room that Indra has  and she kneels before the elephant God and she prays.

Jaya eats some breakfast that Amelia cooked because Indra had an emergency trauma surgery this morning so he had to leave fast. Jaya goes outside and she sees Paxton.

"Indra called him and told him where the house was," Amelia says. "He went into your room before leaving and called, waking the poor boy up."

"Thanks, Amelia." Jaya looks at her. "You have to teach me Portuguese."

Amelia was born in Brazil.

"I will," Amelia replies. "Go."

"Hey," Jaya greets toward the driveway where the familiar red Jeep is.

"Hey." Paxton tosses her his keys once he sees her. "You should practice as much as you can. You can study the book for the written test but practice for the physical. Get in."

Jaya grins and she hurries to the Jeep. She puts her school bag in the back and gets in.

"We gotta pick Trent up," Paxton says. "His mom and dad are sleeping still and he doesn't wanna drive. Hungover."

Jaya nods and she drives Paxton's car to Trent's. As far as Trent is concerned - and back ally everyone else, Jaya is one of the bros and Jaya's okay with that. Trent gets into the backseat. They don't really know that they're still making out and stuff. They think that was just a rumor Devi spread out of jealousy.

"Dude, she looks better behind the wheel of this thing than you do," Trent says to his friend.

"Dude, shut up," Paxton scolds playfully and Jaya drives.

Jaya is in her seat in the seat between Eleanor and the window. El is back in her colorful attire. She's in front of Paxton and Barton is in front of Jamal, who's in front of Whitney. The only available seats for Devi is between Jason and Ben.

Devi video calls Jaya and told her about her kiss with Ben and Jason asking her out. Jay knows that today's class going to be very awkward. Jaya smiles to herself as the bell winds,

"Solutions, my protégés," Mr. Shapiro says as he enters the classroom in stride. "How were your weekends? I spent mine in Lake Ethiopia refreshing my collection of dashikis." He unshoulders his bag and lays it on his desk.

"My weekend was pretty great," Ben speaks up.

"My weekend was tight," Paxton and Jason say at the same time.

Paxton glances up at at Jaya but no one (but Ben and Jason) notice.

"I spread my dad's ashes at the beach!" Devi blurts.

"Ah, yes," Mr. Shapiro says. "Antyeshti, the last samskara in a series of life cycle events in the Hindu tradition."

"I moved in with my Uncle Indra and he became my legal guardian," Jaya says before Mr. Shapiro can make the spreading of ashes weird. "My weekend was pretty good, too."

"Doctor Vishakumar is your uncle?" Whitney gasps. "He is one of the most famous Indian surgeons in America. I love him. He saved my dad's life with a full organ transplant three years ago."

"Yeah, he's pretty awesome," Jaya says.

"I want to remind everybody that our annual community service day is tomorrow," Shapiro says once he gets back on track, "and we are going to removing trash from a park in Pacoima, but the real cleansing will be to..." He waits for someone to speak but no one does "... our own consciousness," he says when no one else does.

"Oh, I know that park," Trent blurts out from the back of the class, two desks behind Ben. "I love littering there."

Jaya is already hanging out with the guys in Paxton's shed. Shem was dropped off by Amelia since Indra has an open heart surgery planned. Jason is picking Devi up. He brings her by and she looks disappointed be she's it's not just her and Jason and it's at Paxton's place and in his died. 

Jaya has a cheese pizza for herself while she teams up with Trent to go against Marcus and Paxton while Devi sits awkwardly as Jason and Emmett talk and laugh.

Jaya is picking up trash with her trash back and a pointy thing at the community service day. She's partnered up with Parton since Devi chose Ben over Jason. He smiles at her and she blushes as they pick up trash near the swing set.

"So, this is fun," Paxton muses as Jason pulls Devi to the side.

Jaya smiles. "Yeah," she says.

"Can I take you on a date?" Paxton asks her as they go to throw their trash bags away.

"Are the guys gonna be there?"

Paxton shrugs. "They usually are but they don't have to be," he says.

"I want a date to feel like a date, not like the other night's hangout session that ended in Trent puking on Emmett's shoes," Jaya says.

"All right." Paxton pushes her hair back once they're alone. "A date with just the two of us it is then. Friday night?"

Jaya smiles. "That sounds great," she says.

Paxton gives her a small kiss on her lips with a cheeky smile and he walks away. Eleanor squeals as she and Fabiola run over to her and she laughs happily. Paxton, hearing this, smiles before he goes to find Trent before he gets himself into trouble by doing something stupid.

"So you have a date?" Indra asks his niece over some actual tacos made by a Mexican.

"With Paxton Hall-Yoshiba," Jaya says.

"Yoshiba?"

"He's half Japanese," Jaya says. "So not American."

"I'll try to be here when he picks you up," Indra says. "Don't worry, I won't be as overbearing and scary as Nalini."

Jaya smiles at him.
