¤ 3rd Point Of View ¤
"Hey...Gojo?" Yuuji called out hesitantly from where he sat at the table. They were both sat at a new Thai restaurant, close by to the hotel. After Yuuji settled into his new hotel room, Gojo offered to treat the boy to some food. It was barely 4 in the afternoon and the two had decided to do some light training after they get themselves fed.
(Y/n) had decided to take her leave after the boy had unpacked. Her excuse was that Nanami needed her, but Gojo knew otherwise. His warning earlier surely stirred something within her, as it done to him. Memories that he'd rather forget from all those years ago. She was clearly uncomfortable after his warning, she didn't speak for a while after that, opting ti stay silent. It made Gojo's insides itch with guilt.
Gojo absentmindedly hummed in response to Yuuji as he flickered through todays newspaper, playing a game that he used to play with an old friend- guessing which tragedy in the news was related to the arise of curses and which was not. He hadn't noticed that Yuuji had stopped eating his food a while ago, plagued by too many thoughts in his head.
"Do you...know anything about (Y/n)'s family?" Yuuji suddenly asked, guilt swallowing him whole as the words left his lips. He felt like he was betraying her by asking this to someone other than her- Sukuna's sly agreements in his head not helping his case. To Yuuji, it even seemed like Sukuna knew more about her than him. Too much.
"Well, Nanami's been my friend for a very long ti-" Yuuji cut Gojo off quickly with a shake of his head. It definerly wasn't Nanami Yuuji was curious about.
"No, no. I don't mean Nanami. I mean her real family...the (L/n) clan." Yuuji corrected, making Gojo freeze in place. The man instantly went silent, pausing his light reading through the local news. It made Yuuji suspicious.
"...Why do you ask?" Satoru then asked slowly, his blue eyes flickering up to meet Yuuji's nervous ones. Gojo mirrored his nervous look, only his was concealed by his sunglasses.
"It's just...I want to know her better- and I feel like learning about her real family is the first step." Yuuji explained sheepishly, ignoring the comment Sukuna was throwing at him from inside his head. The curse didn't seem angry but more as if he were dissapointed on (Y/n)'s behalf. He was teasing him.
Gojo sighed lightly and leaned back into his chair, debating on whether to indulge the child on his curiousities. Satoru lowered his newspaper to the table surface and let his eyes flicker out of the window sadly. If he looked close enough, he'd see her red eyes staring back at him.
"Not even (Y/n) knows much about her family, you know. And her family doesn't get talked about much during these days anyway." Gojo murmered, Yuuji listening in like a hawk.
"Why is that?" Yuuji asked naively, making Satoru suck in a quick breath.
"They were...problematic." He admitted, softening the blow as much as possible. He has never been the one to talk bad about the dead, and despite this all being true, it just felt wrong to talk about them- like out of everyone, it was him who did not deserve to.
"And since they died so...suddenly, it feels like taboo to even mention their name." Gojo admitted.
"Why were they problematic?" Yuuji then asked interestedly, leaning in closer. His food was long forgotten. He needed to know. Since this morning, the only thing he could thing about was all those curses staring at him from the reflection of that little puddle on the train table. (Y/n) said it was a trick of the light. But it was all too vivid, too real.
"They..." Satoru stopped mid-sentence, unable to continue.
It physically hurt him to speak about them. Memories filled his mind from 13 years ago, haunting him every time he spoke their name. The feeling of his blood being controlled by another. He would never forget that feeling. It used to give him butterflies and now it makes his skincrawl. When (Y/n) had done it to him earlier today, he wanted burn each blood cell to make the feeling stop. Fire was their only weakness. He wished he never knew that.
"You know what, Yuuji? I honestly don't feel too comfortable talking about them." Satoru admitted, brushing his fingers through his hair to calm his nerves. Gojo didn't miss the look of dissapointment cross Yuuji's face as he said this
"O-oh, okay. That's fine." Yuuji mumbled as he relaxed into his seat. Gojo was Yuuji's only means for information. It's not like he could ask Megumi.
"If you really want to know more about (Y/n)'s family...you're going to have to go through the clan archives in the jujutsu tech library." Gojo then told the boy, feeling guilty for being unhelpful. He knows it must feel hard for him to feel so in the dark all the time.
"There's information about every clan in there. You can get Kiyotaka to take you so that you won't be seen." Gojo told the boy, watching as a smile graced his face again.
"Alright!" Yuuji cheered, him already up on his feet with eagerness.
"But, Yuuji." Goji then began, making the boy turn to him excitedly.
"Yeah?" He asked ignorantly, not seeing the look of distress on Gojo's face.
"Whatever you read...you can't tell (Y/n)." Satoru told him with a serious look. The only things (Y/n) knows about her family or jujutsu are what the higherups have sanctioned for her to know. If she knew more, the higher ups would have to repeat what happened 13 years ago.
"What? Why?" Yuuji asked with furrowed brows, seeming confused.
"It is forbidden." Gojo told the boy truthfully.
"W-what?" Yuuji stuttered out
"You'll understand when you read the books. I'll have Kiyotaka pick you up. Training is cancelled for today. I...I have to go." Gojo stammered out as he slipped out of his chair and rushed out of the restaurant as memories rushed to the surface.
The fire was bad but the screams were worse.
