Winslow
"I'm sorry for interrupting you but I need a favour. I know it's too much but you're the only one I can trust even tho I've literally met you once and-"
"Honey, take a breath." I place my hand on her shoulder, "What's going on?"
"Can you pretty please tell Cassius I'm not coming to the event?"
"Why not?"
"Um that's the part I can't tell you but if he asks just tell him I have a lot of work." She swipes her hands on her apron
She seems nervous."Why don't you do it yourself, Seo-Yeon?" We sit down on the couch and she lowers her head. When she doesn't answer I raise an eyebrow, "Is something going on between you two?"
Her eyes widen and she shakes her head, "Look if you can't do that it's totally okay-"
"Shut up of course it's okay, I'm just worried you seem nervous." I tell her.
"It's nothing, I just can't make it. Thank you so much, really." She gets up, smiles at me and heads to the kitchen.
I head to my room to get any decorations I could find for the office, like a pretty purple pencil case, pink pens, a colorful mouse pad and some colourful pins.
Okay let's be honest, I hate this stuff but I'm pretty sure they'll piss Everett off, so they're gonna do their job.
I make my way to the door when my bracelet beeps. My dad's voice fills the place and I close the door again, "Dad, I told you to warn when you call, I was on my way to my office, somebody could've heard you." I whisper-yell and close the door.
"I've missed you too Low." He laughs and I roll my eyes, "When are you planning on sending me the files about their next moves?"
"Give me some time, jeez. I'm trying to get on track with everything, it's too much information."
"Alright, alright. How is it going?"
"Good, If you exclude that they don't let me do much work." I sigh and sit on my bed.
"What do you mean?"
"It's the day before the fire event and everyone's so busy but all I did today is type the date on my new world document."
"Well that's fine you're not actually there to do their work but help us do ours. Make sure you stay in character and inform me when you have any new information."
"Alright dad, love you bye."
We hang up and I walk to the office. Everett is not in so I decorate the desk in peace. When I'm done, I smile proudly at myself and sit down. I pick up the paper I was reading, waiting for his reaction.
Two hours pass but he's nowhere to be seen. Where the heck is he, I thought he had a lot of work to do?
The door knocks and I turn to it, confused to see Cassius coming in. "Oh hi, where's Everett?"
"Why would I know?" I hide the document I was working on to send dad.
"Don't you work with him?" He takes a seat on Everett's chair and I raise an eyebrow.
"What is your place here?"
"I'm kind of a guard but I also stay here." He types something on Everett's computer.
Is he even allowed to do that?
"Oh, alright. Are you taking part in the event?" I ask him, getting up.
"Yeah but I'm not that good so I'm on the third set."
"There are different sets?" I take the document I printed and sit back down.
"Have you never been there?" He laughs and from what I can see here, he writes a note to Everett.
"Yeah, yeah. I need to tell you something." I try to change the subject and lean back on my chair, "Seo-Yeon isn't coming. To the event."
His smile drops, "What? How do you know?" He stands up. I watch him walk closer and his features darken.
"She uhm, told me?" I back away a bit.
"Why?"
"She said she has a lot of work to-"
"No, why did she tell you, and not me?"
"I actually don't know." I purse my lips together and check the clock, "Look it's almost time for dinner, why don't you just ask her yourself?"
The door busts open and a furious Everett storms in. He looks around, sees Cassius and forces him to leave. I widen my eyes and turn back to whatever I was doing on my computer.
"What happened? Why-"
"Shut it." He tells me and I gasp, ready to curse him but he turns to Cassius, "Leave buddy. You have to practice for tomorrow."
Cassius leaves and Everett angrily drags his chair in front of my desk.
What the hell?
I eye him and he slams some papers on the desk, sits down and sighs.
"I need help."
"Never thought I'd live to see the day you ask me for help." I grin.
"Cut the sarcasm and get to work. That motherfucker Jasper forgot these forms for tomorrow and we need to fill them all tonight."
"But these are too many, it's almost dinner time." I pout and he glares at me.
"Start. Whatever questions you have, keep them to yourself. You're useless if you don't know how to fill in a form."
I narrow my eyes at him.
"Start. Filling. The. Fucking. Forms."
"Yes sir." I smirk.
It's been half an hour and we're not even half done. I'm so tired and too damn hungry. My stomach growls and I clear my throat, continuing the work. Everett sighs and gets up.
"Where are you goin-" I didn't get the chance to finish before he slams the door on his way out.
What a jerk. Lets me do all the work myself.
Five minutes pass and he's back with two plates of pasta. He places one in front of me and one in front of him.
Did he just bring me food?
"Don't you dare get any food on the papers." He gets a chance to look at the desk and frowns, "What the hell, did some unicorns shit on this desk?"
I roll my eyes and bit back a laugh. I know he didn't intend that to be a joke but I can't help it.
"Why the heck are you laughing?" He grabs his fork and swirls the pasta.
"I don't know maybe because you just made a joke, you let me help you and you just brought me food." I take a bite of the food, "Mmm this is too good." I moan and he looks up at me, swallows and tells me,
"I was hungry and went to grab some food because we're missing dinner. I wasn't gonna bring you any but since you're helping me here I guess I should be kind and not starve you to death?"
"Still, that's too kind of you." I smile and he looks at me.
"Eat your food Winnie."
