Everett

"What the hell do you mean?" I snap at Jasper.

"Calm down, it's not our fault." Dad sits down on his chair and throws some files on the desk.

"It's not your fault the Hector brothers are after us?" I raise my voice at him, "Then who's fault is it, hm?"

"Everett calm down, it's not like they'll manage to do something." Jasper says so casually it makes me want to punch him.

"You activated the fucking community's hidden file, what were you thinking? They most definitely have already begun searching for it."

"Well it was too easy to open for a community file." Jasper rolls his eyes and I place my hand on my mouth to prevent me from doing something I would regret.

"It wasn't your business to activate it. That damn file has everything in it! You didn't think of the consequences?" I run my hand through my hair. I can't believe them. My blood pressure has totally risen to an unhealthy level.

"They were out of our ways for years Everett! We thought they had stopped!" Dad starts to loose his temper too but he has absolutely no right to.

"Well, if you were smart enough you would know that silence doesn't mean quitting." I put my hands on his desk with force, "I never thought I'd have this conversation. I hope you know you put us in danger." I lower my tone and glare at both of them.

To say I'm angry is an understatement. I can't fucking believe them. They sometimes act so childish, it's stupid.

I need something to take my mind off this conversation, so after I exit the room I change into my grey sweatpants, take off my shirt and hit the home gym. On my way, I spot Winslow talking to her bracelet. What the heck? I hide on the side so she doesn't notice me.

"I don't know! Something happened with a file. I'll try to find more about it and tell you." She whispers to the person. Who the hell is she talking to? "No, of course not. Okay bye." She hangs up and looks up, locking gazes with me. Her eyes widen and I frown,

"Who is that?" I ask her, heading for the kitchen to grab a bottle of cold water for the gym.

"Um, my dad." She doesn't follow me and I pause, turning back. When I do, her gaze drops to my shirtless torso and she bites her lip, trying not to make it obvious but I grin because I know what she's thinking.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't thinking about it too.

"Why do you inform him about your work?" I don't continue my way to the kitchen. Instead, I walk closer to her.

"Why? Can't I? Just like how your dad is interested in your work, mine is too." She swallows and it seems like she's holding back from saying something.

"My dad is a part of my work. Yours is a stranger." A strand of hair falls on her face and I fight the urge to push it back her ear. She does it herself and narrows her eyes at me,

"Excuse me, should I apologize for my dad being interested in what I do?" Her eyes travel down my torso again and I smirk down at her.

"No need to apologise, Winnie." I was just trying to piss her off. I walk to the fridge, get my water bottle and fill it with cold water. I turn around to head to the gym, but I bump into her. "The hell?"

"What happened with the file?" She follows me.

"I don't want to talk about that." I keep walking but she doesn't stop following me.

"Why?"

"Enough stupidness from dad and Jasper today, I don't need you being a pain in the ass too." I grab a clean towel from the gym locker and throw it over my shoulder. I turn around to face her but I see something in her eyes, maybe disappointment? I don't know. Since when was I able to read people?
