Charlie woke with a start.
Pushing out of bed he felt energized, well rested and just general pretty good. Friday had been a pretty good day at work, and now he was hoping Saturday would as well.
After using the bathroom, and brushing his teeth and hair he left to the kitchen where he began to cook some bacon. He didnt know what it was but today just felt great.
Leaving the stove for a moment, he walked over to the small living room where he turned on the tv and switched to the news.
Slimecicle hadn't said much yet this morning. They had said a quick good morning when he woke up, but nothing else.
Charlie didnt mind though. He actually preferred it like this. At least a little.
As he returned to the bacon sizzling in its pan, he flipped them over, not paying much mind to the news program.
The name 'Slimecicle' caught his ear.
Confused, he glanced back at the TV, his smile dropped as the image of slimecicle sat on the screen.
A reporter was speaking over a clip of them surrounded by people. they looked terrified.
Charlie's hand slowly slipped from the pans handle, gently placing the fork he had on the countertop. His eyebrows were slowly furrowing as he continued to watch the scene play out.
He sighed. "What did you do?" He spoke to seemingly himself.
For a moment there was no response, only silence filled his mind. He grunted. "Slime."
Ok fine! I'm sorry.
Slimes voice filled his head, calling out in regret.
I just wanted to go out again, that's all! I didn't mean to cause any trouble.
Charlie sighed, pinching his brow as he leaned forward against the counter. "You know vigilantism is a bad idea, you could've gotten hurt!" He scolded.
Slime grumbled, huffing in annoyance.
Look, I tried my best to be careful! It's not my fault dream hates me!
Charlie took his hand off his face, turning his head in confusion. "Wah- of course he hates you! That's his job!" He exclaimed.
Slime made a confused noise.
Really? I thought his job was to fight crime.
Charlie's mouth hung open as he stared off stunned. Is slime that oblivious? Charlie scoffed. "No! Of course it isn't, I wasn't being serious. I meant, like-" he paused. "Yknow what, nevermind."
Charlie groaned, glancing back at the bacon for a moment. It was still sizzling away, a delicious smell drifting from the pan.
He could hear slime sigh regretfully.
I'm sorry..
Looking back to the TV, he watched the clip as slime stood staring at the group of people, Dream slowly beginning to walk closer. he sighed.
Grabbing the fork off the counter he went back over to the stove, grabbing the pan handle and pushing the bacon around gently. Niether of the two spoke, only the television and the sizzling noises could be heard.
After a moment, charlie paused. Putting the fork down and loosening his grip on the handle. He stared for a moment. "Why'd you do it?" He asked casually.
Slime seemed to contemplate that, taking a moment to humm over the answer to themselves.
Well...
