Charlie hummed silently to himself at the circle k counter. Today was- like many days before it- boring.
Charlie.. can we go out tonight? I want to do some crime fighting.
Spoke slimecicle, leaning lazily in the office chair in Charlie's reflection.
Charlie sighed, turning to look over at his slimy compatriot. "No, slime. I'm tired. Today were just going to go home, and go to sleep." He huffed, leaning back and crossing his legs over each other, before pulling out his phone.
Slime huffed, sounding thoroughly annoyed.
They sat there silently for a bit, before the door chimed, and someone walked in.
Charlie groaned, clearing his throat and sitting up right to look at his new customer.
"Welcome to circle-" He stopped. Stuck staring, right into those beady eyes of a white porcelain mask.
"Hello Charlie." Spoke dream, towering over the poor man who sat literally shaking in his boots. "I'm here to congratulate you."
Charlie looked him up and down, a look of terror in his eyes. What the fuck is going on?? Is the jig up? Did dream find out his true identity, and now he's here to finally arrest him?
It took him a moment to realise what the hero had said, pausing and readjusting his composure. "I-im sorry.. congratulate me for what..?" He asked hesitantly, waiting and fully expecting him to say something along the lines of 'for being so dumb' and then get his wrists placed in irons.
Dream merely chuckled to himself. "Well, everyone's come together and decided that you deserve a break." He spoke, making wide gestures with his hands. "So, I've come to pick you up and bring you to your special suprise."
Charlie stared at dream. He couldn't begin to tell you how desperately confused he was.
This had to be some kind of trick, right? He's being played for a fool. He's going to get arrested, and Dream knows it, he's just playing with his heartstrings.
But, before he knew it, dream was grabbing him by the shirt collar and dragging him along.
He yelped, getting pulled over the counter and slammed against the tiled floor, then dragged out the door and down the street.
It was a bit of a long ways to get there. Especially considering Charlie physically felt sick, not knowing what to do. It was like this was a dream. No one was acting the way they should, not even the bystanders.
Everyone just looked at dream with smiles, even the dogs seemed to get happy when he walked by. No one seemed to even notice that he was there, getting dragged across the concrete sidewalk.
This had to be a dream. He knew it was a dream, it had. To. Be. That or maybe everyone in New York went fucking insane.
Eventually, after maybe twenty minutes of dream walking and Charlie remaining limp, dragged across the ground, they finally made it to Hero Tower.
Charlie, seeing the golden spire they were walking to, felt his heart skip a beat.
He is getting arrested, he knew it. It's just a really convoluted and confusing alternative, where he gets dragged to the tower instead of put in cuffs and escorted there.
With a bit of desperate hope still burning in him, he stumbled his way onto his feet and followed hesitantly behind dream, his shirt collar still gripped tightly in the heros palm.
"D-dream, I think you might have the wrong person.." he chuckled anxiously, entering the tower as he continued to get pulled along.
Dream merely laughed. "Oh, no. Trust me. We're all here to congratulate you and slime, there's no mix ups." He spoke with a low chuckle.
