Fuck this
Fuck everything honestly.
Sitting at the till of a circle k, the only thing that went through Charlie's head was how much he didnt want to be there. Though he wouldnt have to wait long since in about 20 mins hed switch shifts with foolish, another coworker who worked the night shift at that circle k.
He couldnt complain much though, since it had been one of the only jobs he was able to get. Sadly a lot of jobs seem to care more about how good someone's power is instead of their experience. And in Charlie's case, getting a job would be even harder.
As long as you've got even a somewhat powerful ability people will accept you to be at least decent. But unfortunately for charlie cycle, he was born powerless. All through school that's all he was known for. And now that hes an adult, all hes able to get is a job at a damn circle k.
Now hes just got to sit here and wait 20 minutes until he can go home.
. . .
Charlie spun in his chair. Watching the artificial lights spin over his head. The light buzz of the ceiling lights would drive him insane one of these days.
He stuck his foot out and caught himself on the counter, stopping his spin before he got motion sick. As he did, the door opened.
"Hey charlie! Sorry I'm late, the bus took longer than expected." Foolish spoke as he entered the building. He wore a yellow sweater with light green details, which, highlighted his bright green eyes nicely.
Charlie's eyes lit up as he saw him. He could finally get out of here!
"Hey!" Charlie moved up from his chair and walked over to the corner behind the counter where he had put his bag. He reached down, picked it up and slung it over his shoulder.
He gestured to the chair as foolish walked closer, "take a seat." He teased.
Foolish walked past charlie, "cant wait to spend the next eight hours here." Foolish sighed.
Charlie turned back to foolish as he walked past, watching as he set down his stuff and settled in his chair. Foolish began spinning on the chair the same as charlie had. He found that amusing.
"I'll see you tommorow foolish!" Charlie said as he walked over towards the door.
"Yeah, I'll see you tommorow charlie" foolish said, continuing to spin around behind the counter.
Charlie sighed as he pushed the door open, feeling a refreshing breeze on his face as he stepped into the cool autumn air. A nice change from the stale air he had been breathing for the past eight hours.
Right outside the circle k was a bus stop with Charlie's bus waiting for him. Foolish and charlie both take the same bus to and from work. Which means when they switch shifts, charlie has to get out the moment foolish gets in so he can catch the bus foolish came on. He may have missed the bus a couple times on their first shifts together but after foolish talked to the driver he was able to get him to wait a bit longer so charlie could get on.
Charlie made his way to the bus and got on, saying a quick "thanks" and "hello" to the driver as he walked over to a seat.
He sat down. Taking his bag off his shoulder, he placed it on his lap and heaved a sigh as the bus began to move.
I need a better job.
The bus ride isnt anything too special, it's not like Dream got into a fight with Icarus on the freeway on his way home. Heros and villains were always getting into fights, and earlier that week there was a fight where a bus had gotten stuck between both a hero and a villian. Charlie wouldnt wish to be one of the helpless people stuck on that bus.
