"He says he feels like he's burning. Check for burns." Dr. Owens instructed.
We were rushed to the hospital. Will was screaming and crying. I felt like I was having a panic attack. Hell, I probably was.
"Will, honey where does it hurt?" The nurses kept asking him over and over again.
"Everywhere!" He tried to push the nurses away.
They pulled out a needle and stabbed it into his arm. I wanted to get him and hug him, but I was being held back by guards.
I was a threat and danger in their eyes, so I was removed from the room. I was put in a room by myself.
It was a testing room but there was no one else but me. I dragged a discarded chair into a corner and sat in it. I pulled my knees to my chest and put my head down.
I closed my eyes and tried to calm down. Things were so scary and I was facing it alone. I hope they were at least helping Will.
I had finally evened my breathing when the door burst open. I lifted my head slowly and saw Dr. Owens walked into the room with a guard following behind.
"Sofia, are you alright?"
"How's Will?" I asked quietly.
"He's going to be okay. He's being evaluated right now. How are you?"
"What do you think? I was locked in this room like a criminal. I don't even know why. I didn't even do anything."
"Sofia, when your emotions get out of control it could be dangerous for everyone. This was just a precaution. As is what follows."
"What follows?"
The guard stepped forward with a change of clothes.
"What is this?"
"You need to change your clothes. You were in close contact."
"But I didn't go down there. There's nothing wrong with me."
"It's just a precaution Sofia. Your mother gave you a hug and touched you after she came out. We don't know for sure if you're contaminated, but we can't take the risk."
The guard stepped forward and handed me the clothes.
"Please cooperate with me Sofia. I don't want to have to force you to anything."
"Like you could." I mumbled.
I watched both of them leave the room. I sighed and stood from the chair. Once I was done changing my clothes I folded the clothes I was originally wearing and placed them on the table in the center of the room.
After a while, Dr. Owens came back into the room and told me I could go back to Will's room. I walked down the hall and into Will's room. I had been in the other room for hours apparently because the sun was coming back up.
I didn't even realize that everything that had happened was so long. It felt like it was all happening so fast but I guess not.
I looked around and saw Mom and Bob wearing the same thing I was wearing, talking in the corner. I saw Mike sleeping in a chair next to Will's bed. Will was also sleeping. He looked like he was sweaty and tired.
Mom and Bob hadn't even realized I was here until they turned around.
"Sof, where were you?" Mom asked as she walked over and gave me a hug.
"I was taken down the hall. 'Possible threat' was all I heard."
"I swear, I want to burn this place to the ground."
