One Month Later
"Are you sure people still dance like this?" Will asked us as he danced around the living room with Will.
"Yeah, it's what's happening." Mom said.
Will turned to Jonathan and I. Jonathan was recording and I was sitting on the couch.
"Yeah." Jonathan laughed.
"It's what's happening." I smiled.
I looked over at the clock and saw that it was almost 5.
"Jonathan, we have to go or we're going to be late." I said.
He nodded simply and didn't even look at me.
Jonathan and I had signed up to help set up and work during the dance. We didn't really want to do community service, we just wanted to watch the boys and Max and the dance. Of course because it is a dance, we had to be dressed in formal attire.
I walked over to the door and picked up the keys from the coffee table. I turned around and Jonathan was still recording Mom and Will.
"Jonathan! We're going to be late and we still have to pick up Nancy. Let's go!" I said and opened the door.
"Okay." He whispered and followed me.
"We'll see you later, Mom." I called as we stepped out.
The ride to pick up Nancy was quiet. Once we picked up Nancy, we made our way to the middle school.
"Do you know if Eleven is going?" Nancy asked from the backseat.
"Eleven was going?" I asked, confused.
"Yeah, Mike invited her last year." Nancy replied and laid back against the seat.
"You think she remembers last year?" Jonathan butt in while turning into the parking lot.
"She was in hiding, not dead." I rolled my eyes and looked over at Nancy. "I don't know. I haven't seen her since that day. I guess it'll be a surprise for all of us if she does."
Jonathan parked the car and we all got out. A strong gust of wind blew by and we all shivered.
"We should've brought sweaters." Nancy said and walked beside me.
"It would've ruined our outfits." I shrugged.
"I feel great." Jonathan said and pulled open the door.
Nancy and I stopped walking and looked at him.
"Shut up." We both said and walked inside.
We walked into the gym and were looking around. There was no one here.
"What the hell?" I whispered.
"Ah, kids! You must be here for community service!" A voice said from behind us.
We all turned around and saw a familiar face.
"Mr. Clarke?" We all said at the same time.
"The one and only. Remind me where I know you kids from." He smiled at us.
"You're our brothers teacher." We all said at the same time.
His eyebrows ruffled in confusion.
"Mike Wheeler and Will Byers. You've had them in your class for a few years." I nodded.
"Oh! The brightest kids in my class! Yes, I remember now. We all met at Will's funeral. Although, I'm not sure what happened in the following evenings, but all is well now. So, let's start decorating for this dance. Follow me." He said and walked past us.
