Steve's Pov
We got out of the car and I rounded the car to get to the trunk. I opened it and pulled out the bat. Henderson led the way to his backyard so that I could look for the monster thing.
I dragged the bat all the way to the storm cellar.
"I don't hear anything. I swear if this is some kind of Halloween prank, you're dead."
He unlocked the cellar and there was still no noise.
"I'll just stay up here. You know, in case something goes wrong." Dustin mumbled.
"Great." I rolled my eyes and started walking down the stairs.
Once I made it to the bottom, I still couldn't hear anything. I turned on the light and looked around.
"Henderson, there's nothing here!" I shouted to him from inside. I walked around to make sure there was nothing. I made it to the darkest corner of the cellar. There was a hole in the ground.
"Shit." I picked up a slimy thing that was right next to the hole. It looked like skin or it was skin.
"What is that?" Dustin asked as he looked at the slimy skin.
"You tell me kid. And if he's not here, then where is he? Where is Dart?"
Sofie's Pov
"I'd say it's somewhere here?" Bob said, more as a question than a statement.
"This. The X is somewhere here?" Mom asked.
"Yeah, I guess." Bob concluded.
"Oh, thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" She kissed his cheek and raced to grab her keys from her room.
Me and the boys followed her. I went to grab a sweater and the boys did the same.
"Oh, we're actually going?" Bob asked, still sitting in the kitchen.
We all piled into Mom's car and started driving around in the general area where Bob said Hopper could be. He didn't even know that this is the reason why we needed this in the first place.
"Bob, what is taking so long? Where is it?" Mom asked, still driving down the streets cluelessly.
"It should be in this general area. I don't really know exactly what we're looking for. Maybe you could tell m-"
"Turn right." Will blurted out.
"What?" Mom asked.
"I saw him. In my now memories. Turn right."
"When?"
"Now!" Mom made a hard right and we all shot to the side. She had lost control of the car a little.
Once she regained control, we were inches away from hitting the back of Hopper's car. We all jerked forward.
"Are you guys okay?" Mom asked slowly.
We all nodded our heads.
"What's Jim doing here?" Bob was confused.
Mom started getting out of the car and so did we.
"No, no, no! Mom, it's not safe!" Will shouted to her.
"I know! That's why I need you guys to stay here!"
"Mom!" Will shouted out to her desperately.
"Stay here!" She warned then walked away.
I unbuckled my seat belt and started getting out of the car.
"Sofie, where are you going?" Mike asked.
"Come on guys. When do I ever follow directions?" I got out of the car completely and walked towards where Mom and Bob went.
It was a large ditch. The boys followed after me, but we did not go down. Yes, I was directly disobeying my Mom but I wasn't going to put the boys in danger.
The sun was almost completely gone and there was still no sign of Mom and Bob.
"I'm going down there." I started walking towards the ditch when both of the boys pulled me back.
"Sofie, you can't! It's not safe!" Will pleaded as he hung onto my arm.
"Guys, they're down there facing God knows what! They need help!"
"Sofie! Not you!" Mike hung onto me harder.
We all started arguing when a bunch of Hawkins Lab vans started pulling up around us.
"Great, now we're getting kidnapped." I mumbled and stood in front of the boys.
"Sofia, step back. Is your mother in there?" Dr. Owens was standing in front of me.
"Yes. She went in with Bob Newby. We think Jim Hopper is in there. He needs help. I saw him. In my head. You need to get him out." I explained.
"My guys are going in there now. You three just stay here and don't cause any trouble." He instructed then walked away.
We stood and waited. People in white suits were passing us and pushing us out of the way. They all jumped down into the hole. There was still no sign of Mom, Bob or Hopper.
I walked over to Owens who was only a few feet away from us.
"Where are they? We've been waiting over there like idiots!"
"Sofia, you need to calm down. Please, let me do my job." He replied calmly.
I rolled my eyes and walked back over to the boys.
"What's happening, Sofie?" Mike asked as he looked around at all the lights and people running past us.
"I don't know guys." I turned around to look at the hole again and then turned back to the boys.
Everything that followed happened so quickly. There was a loud boom and smoke started coming out of the hole at the same time that Will hit the ground.
"Will!" I looked down at him and I was terrified. "Help! There's something wrong with my brother! Will!" Mike and I were getting pulled away from Will.
"No! Let go of me! Will! My brother needs help!" I tried wiggling out of their arms but it wouldn't work.
"Sofie!" Mike was trying to push them away too.
"My brother! He needs help! Help him! Please! Will!" I was crying and trying to get away.
"Where's my daughter?! What's wrong with my son?!"
"Mom!"
What was happening? I don't know what was wrong with Will, but no one was helping him. They were all just staring at him like idiots.
Finally, some people started helping him and finally let us go. We sprinted over to where everyone was.
"Sofie, what happened?" Mom asked me panicked.
"I don't know. He just fell and then he started doing that. I don't know what's wrong." I started crying into her shoulder.
"Mrs. Byers, your son has to be transported now. You and your people will be transported by my men, but we need to move now." Dr. Owens told Mom.
"Sof, we have to go. Grab Mike and follow me."
I turned around and grabbed Mike. He hung onto me for dear life as we raced over to the van. How could this possibly get worse?
