Steve's Pov

I drove around with Sofie for a while. She was still a little tipsy, but it was starting to wear off. I took her to the gas station and bought her water and powdered donuts. They're her favorite.

"Do you think my mom is going to kick my ass?"

"No, I think you'll be fine by the time we get to your house."

"That was the lamest party ever...."

"Sof, you were having a blast when you were drunk out of your mind." I laughed.

"I was not 'drunk out of my mind' you asshole. I was sad and now I'm sticky and kind of smell like fruit punch."

This made me laugh even more. I parked the car and got out.

"Where are you going?"

"Get out here. You need some fresh air."

"Ugh"

I watched her get out of the car and come and stand next to me. It was only 9 so there were still a lot of parents and kids out trick or treating. I sat down on the curb and pulled her with me.

"Why are we sitting here?"

"Because you need to recenter yourself. Also you need to sit here until you're okay to go home."

We sat and talked for a while. We watched so many different kids in different costumes go up and down the street.

"How you feeling Sof?"

"Shitty, but I'll be fine. I'm cold though."

I immediately rolled off my jacket and put it over her shoulders.

"Thanks." She whispered and closed her eyes. She leaned onto my shoulder and sighed.

We sat there for a little longer until it started to get even colder, so I stood up and pulled Sofie with me.

"C'mon Sof. It's time to go."

"Alright."

I walked her to her side of the car, opened the door and helped her in. I closed the door and rushed over to my side. I hopped in and started the car.

"Hey Sof do you want me t-" I stopped talking when I looked over at her  side and saw her. She was fast asleep.

I smiled to myself and started driving towards her house. The ride was silent and she never woke up.

Once I pulled into her driveway, I stopped the car and opened my door. I closed it as quietly as possible and jogged over to her side. I opened her door and hesitated. I wanted to wake her up but she looked so peaceful.

I put my arm under her legs and the other under her back and lifted her up. I shut the door with my foot and walked towards the front door. I tried my best to open the door and hold her at the same time. I gave up and knocked quietly on the door.

I waited for a few seconds before a guy that wasn't Jonathan opened the door.

"Sorry, we're all out of candy." He said before trying to close the door on me.

"Wait, I'm Steve Harrington. I'm dropping off Sofie. She fell asleep on the ride over here."

He looked down at my arms and his eyes widened.

"Oh, yeah of course. Let me hold the door for you." He opened the door wider and let me pass.

"I'll just leave her in her room and head out."

"Alright." He smiled.

His dracula costume was weird, but it was funny I guess. I walked down to the end of the hall and pushed open her door.
