upon finding marissa unconscious, the teens were quick to get her help by calling 911 and having her immediately airlifted to a hospital.
after arriving home that night, the cohen's and ryan were all stood in the kitchen the next morning in the aftermath waiting for updates. no one knew for sure what was going to happen to marissa.
"i have three sesame and two plain." kirsten broke the silence, motioning to the bagels on the island.
the four simultaneously shook their heads, no one even wanting to speak as despair continued to fill the kitchen.
"look we're not gonna hear from the hospital for a while, why don't you guys get showered and dressed." the woman suggested. "and you can't be late for your meeting with the dean." she pointed out to ryan.
"i'll take them to school." sandy offered.
"you can't be late for your first day." kirsten lectured. once again everyone seemed to stay in their place, not moving one bit. "well if we're not gonna eat lets-lets just, let's just go."
just as the girl's mother headed out of the kitchen, the home phone started to ring. the four stared in anticipation as sandy picked it up.

after getting the call from jimmy cooper that his daughter was going to be okay, kirsten and sandy brought the teens to visit her before they needed to be at school for registration.
as the five stood at the door, they watched marissa asleep in her hospital bed as her father sat by her bedside, gently moving some hair out of her face.
"hey." sandy whispered getting the man's attention.
"hey." jimmy stood up to shake his hand, "she uh, she just fell back to sleep but she was awake and uh.. aware."
ryan worriedly took a seat next to her while savannah got closer, gently brushing over the girl's hand.
"thanks for uh calling the hospital.. finding her, jimmy said to ryan, "if they hadn't airlifted her out she uhh."
"when can she go home?" sandy asked.
"uhh they said in a-in a day or so, they wanna keep her under observation." jimmy told them. "that's hospital policy." kirsten nodded.
"so i guess there's no need to worry right? i mean a teenage girl palms a dozen pain killers and washes it down with tequila.. its perfectly normal right?" julie cooper commented as she walked through the door with a coffee in her hand. "what are you doing here?" she nastily questioned looking to kirsten and sandy.
