cramming for an upcoming morning exam, savannah was up late. and in this solo study session, her bleary-eyed quest for a late-night snack led her to the kitchen.

heading down the steps, she was a bit surprised to cross paths with marissa, who emerged from the kitchen sliding door in a frantic rush, urgently making her way through the house to the front door.

"goodnight," the strawberry blonde awkwardly whispered making eye contact with savannah as she dashed out the door.

"drive safely!" kirsten waved from the kitchen, her tone revealing a hint of kindness and shock. savannah turned her head as she realized her mother was still awake as well.

in that moment the brunette's eyes widened as the pieces of the puzzle fell into place that marissa was visiting ryan, her new official boyfriend, late at night.

"it's never happened with seth." kirsten gave a grimacing shrug, earning a small nod of agreeance from her daughter.

the next morning, savannah was sat in the kitchen with sandy and kirsten when ryan entered through the sliding door.

"morning." he muttered stepping inside, his voice still husky from just waking up.

"hi." kirsten threw on a warm smile, interrupting the conversation she had been having with sandy about the incident from the previous night, hoping to divert attention away from it.

"we're all very proud." sandy chimed in referring to his newfound relationship with marissa. savannah's eyes widened in reaction to her father's comment. well, that was an embarrassing revelation.

ryan, sensing the awkwardness, offered an apologetic tone, "uh, thanks, i just wanted to say sorry, about last night."

"sorry about what, man? what'd i miss? who'd ya hurt?" seth asked as he casually strolled into the kitchen. he was the only one out of the loop.

overhearing a hushed conversation between her parents, savannah caught wind of their intentions. "maybe you should talk to him." kirsten suggested to her husband, referring to ryan.

"i just appreciate you guys being so cool about everything." the blonde thanked them, not hearing their whispers.

"ryan, ryan cool about what?" seth persistently probed, seeking more details.

sandy glanced at kirsten, breaking the tension by changing the subject, "so, ill see you tonight."

"savannah, what happened-" he now turned to his sister, getting no information still.
