Ch. 15) Missed Kisses

Leon's POV: Just as we knew it, Ashley's hand revealed fresh blood. She had been infected too.

"Wh-What's happening to me?" Her eyes are watery and she looks between me and Y/N. Y/N has a sympathetic look on her face moving closer to Ashley.

I turn to Luis who seems to know something about it, moving closer to analyze her hand.

"Is this the first time you've coughed up blood like this?" He takes his hand in hers analyzing the splatters in her hand. She nervously shakes her head, out of breath as tears brim her eyes. Luis looks around in a worried manner, checking on all of us before his eyes are back on her hand. He obviously knows something.

"You wanna start explaining?" His eyes move to me, dropping Ashley's hand at me question.

Y/N moves closer to Ashley as Luis steps back, giving her a sympathetic smile as she puts her hand on her shoulder. Every look she gives kills me, I hate having her mad at me. I actually think this is the first time she's been so angry at me.

Luis hesitates before answering. "The cough, the blood- it's caused by something called a... 'plaga'." Y/N gives me a worried look before looking back at Ashley. Shit, this isn't fucking good.

"Okay, you saw those 'people', right?" Luis starts to pace, moving back towards where the huge door had shut on the guy's head.

"Well you have the same thing inside of you. The same thing that made them like that. This, what you're experiencing, these symptoms... They're only the beginning." He turns away from the giant door, pacing back to open space that turns into a path.

"I don't wanna become like them." Ashley is frantic, and Y/N stays quiet with her head towards the floor. She was the first one infected... which worries me the most. I can't fucking lose her.

"You are, well, lucky. You see at this early stage the parasite- the plaga. It is possible to remove it... with a surgical procedure. And all you need is some know how. And, oh yeah, the right equipment." He turns around holding his shirt open to reveal a huge scar on his chest right over his heart. He was infected too...

"Wait. You, too?" I ask nodding to the mark.

"No worries. See, I have a plan. But you're going to have to trust me." He slowly backs away as I look back at Y/N and Ashley. Y/N gives me a worried look but her thoughts and expression is unreadable.

I don't have any other choice... I look back to Luis giving him a simple nod which makes him clap his hands.

"Great. We're partners then." He turns around quickly wanting to head down the path.

"Hey wait before you go... how long does it take for the parasite to take over." I interject, eager for an answer.

"Not long my friend. But see, don't worry. I'm gonna help." He waves his hand beginning to walk away.

"Yeah, why are you-"

"No time for any questions. The clock is ticking and seems like to me your little girlfriend will be the first to turn." My heart dropped just thinking about her turning into one of those things.

She wasn't my girlfriend... she may have been at one point, after the Raccoon City incident, and before i was forced to leave... But I wasn't going to acknowledge that. I didn't wanna lose her again. The feeling of when they told me I couldn't contact her... couldn't see her again, couldn't feel her, come home to her all those years ago came flooding back. Completely drowning my mind.

What if it came to that, what if I couldn't save her, I felt my eyes sting as I watched him walk away. What if I had to say goodbye to her again and this time permanently.
