Leon's POV:
"So you really jumped into a barrel labeled explosives without even thinking to read it?" Y/n cackled to Ashley, nudging her shoulder as she picked.
"Look, you guys both just told me to urgently hide so I really wasn't worried about what could be in the barrels." She stopped herself putting her hand on her chest.
"Oh my god I can't believe that just came out of my mouth," She scoffed, "Can you imagine the creepy crawlies in those things?" gagging, she continued to shiver at the oh-so-awful thought that haunts her. Y/n was practically on the floor laughing at her. I just stood there, reloading my guns as they picked at each other.
"Regardless," I paused waiting until the laughter died down and their eyes found me, "I'm glad you jumped in that barrel because we wouldn't have thought to read it if you hadn't." I put the last bullet into my shot gun before strapping it back on my back.
"I'm glad I could help. I know you and Y/n do most of the fighting." She stated awkwardly rubbing her arm. Y/n wrapped her arm around her neck, reassuring her with just that physical touch. And I stayed silent.
"We should search the room and then move on." I pulled out my pistol, just comforted by the presence of it in my hand. They both nodded.
"We should split up, this room is absolutely huge." Y/n, suggested looking around at all of the black oozing fountains. I swallowed. The thought of that made me anxious. Not because I don't trust her. But I don't trust myself to get to her in time if she needs me. I pushed away the tainted feelings, just nodding as we headed in the opposite directions. Ashley of course decided to go with her.
I began breaking open the storage boxes and barrels on my half of the room. Not much was ever found. If we got lucky, there would be a box of ammo that showed up every now and then. But luck wasn't always very kind to us. At the most, a couple of coins of change would show up. I stared at the golden coins in my hand, beginning to count them before a piercing scream echoed throughout the room. I dropped the coins immediately taking off.
My adrenaline had spiked enough to get a herd of horses high.
"LEON! LEON OH MY GOD HELP!" Ashley's voice barely echoed over the piercing scream, telling me that the one screaming was my Y/n. My feet took me as fast as I could run before I met them. Y/n...
Y/n was...
Y/N's POV:
Ashley bent down to grab the box of ammo I had broken out of the barrel.
"Oh my god Leon is gonna be thrilled." She breamed, opening the box to see how much was inside. She began counting as I trailed off to find another barrel. I watched a shadow grow on the wall from behind, and my heart dropped. I stood there acting oblivious as I tried to discreetly reach for my gun.
RRIIIIIPPPP
I screamed feeling my scalp pinch, before I was on the floor, being dragged towards god knows where. My head throbbed and I screamed as loud as I could until I heard Leon's food steps grow heavier and louder. Ashley was screaming too but I couldn't make out what she was saying.
My head oh my god. He was ripping my scalp. Whatever had me was dragging me by my hair. I wrapped my hands around the arm latched to my hair to try and relieve some pressure. It was swinging me so much that it was hard to keep my grip. I lost it when he jerked me back, another yelp left my throat.
The piercing pain felt like too much to bear, and I was sure that I was being scalped, but I screamed regardless. My vision was blurry and I grew dizzy with the more I screamed. Am I bleeding?
Leon's here, it's Leon.
He stood before us, unloading his shot gun into the thing behind me. I closed my eyes, not wanting to watch as the bullets faced me.
I watched through hazy eyes as he dropped the gun and charged at whatever was behind me, wielding his knife. I tried to stay awake as hard as I could. I kicked and punched at what I could reach before I was finally dropped, and my head smashed against the floor.
~
Throbbing..
My head is throbbing...
The dim light quickly found it's way to my eyes, trying to get rid of the fuzzy film that covered them. I groaned as I began to sit up. Where is Leon? Ashley?
"We're right here." His voice echoed. Did I say that out loud?
He came over, helping me sit up. Ashley was sitting in front of me holding a pile of brown hair. Hair? Why is she holding hair?
Oh my god. My hair. My hands immediately found their way to my head, shocked to find that I still had a full head of hair. I turned to Leon, who was now avoiding my gaze.
"Is that my hair?" I questioned watching his face. He just slowly nodded as his eyes found mine again.
"Leon cut your hair from that things grip..." Ashley spoke up, holding my once attached locks out in front of me.
"W-what was it?" I questioned.
"It was one of those goat head things. The really tall ones in the cloaks." Ashley spoke, fear laced in her voice.
"I'm sorry Y/n, I tried to kill it but it was swinging you around like a rag doll. It was too risky to keep shooting at him with him swinging you around like that." He spoke quietly and his eyes were drenched in guilt.
He was crouched down next to me. I threw my arm around him, twisting my body around to hug him. He rested on his knees, hugging me back for a moment.
"Leon, I'm not mad at you. You saved me, again." I kissed his cheek before pulling away. "Please don't feel guilty for that." I spoke to him gently letting my hand linger on his cheek as I took in the view of his deep sad blues. They were such an easy pool to drown in. He stared, unsure of what to say.
"I just hope your cutting skills are decent." I pushed him over, catching him off guard as he began to laugh.
"Well they're not the best..." Ashley giggled rubbing the back of her neck.
I got up, walking to one of the suits of armor in the filthy room and rubbed the dirty spot of armor that I could reach with my shirt. My reflection could hazily be seen and my hair was jagged and sideways. I gasped out loud and cupped my mouth with my hands. I couldn't help but laugh, and regret the fact that I did when my head began throbbing again.
Leon's figure grew closer to me in the reflection, and I could feel his presence behind me.
"I think it suits you, but I can attempt to fix it if you'd like." His hands traveled to my now shoulder length hair as he played with the fresh jagged edge.
"Thank you." I swallowed and nodded.
~
I stared at my hair now in the armor's reflection. It was even shorter after Leon 'fixed' it with his knife. For only using a knife, it honestly wasn't that bad. It was not bob short, but definitely shorter than what I was used to.
"It's still longer than mine." Ashley smiled as she played with the now straight edge of my hair.
"I love it." I smiled at Leon through the armor, earning a nod and a grin as he put his knife away.
