Y/N's POV: Ashley and I stand on the other side of the broken window, staring at the familiar figure in disbelief. The flames continue to eat away at the wood, growing by the second. It's Leon...

His attention is on the broken window, the flames are just high enough below the window to only graze you if you went by. "Leon! Hurry!" Ashley shouts before grabbing my hand and pulling me away from the burning building. "Quick, this place is coming down!" I shout, earning his attention.

And with one more take on the building, Leon is jumping through the flames and out of the window.

He's alive. I could've sworn I watched him die. But then again I could've sworn that a million times back in Raccoon City. I rush to his side as the man lies on the ground. When he leapt from the window, he just caught himself on his hand before falling.

"Leon oh my god!" He's so warm, but I hug him like I've never felt his embrace before. His face buries in my neck, breathing heavily through strands of my hair as he runs after fresh air, his hand is hot as he wraps it around my waist to hug me back, letting the other one stay on the ground to help him sit up. Ashley followed me, patting out the ashes that had still been lit on his clothes.

"You really scared us there." She mumbled looking towards the ground. I let go of him, sitting in-between his sprawled out legs, taking in his ash-filled face. His eyes settled on me, they look so tired. I take in his features wiping away some of the soot from his nose as he lets out a small chuckle, catching me and Ashley off guard.

"What is it?" I ask feeling a smile tug at my lips. Though he doesn't do it much, his smile is contagious.

"Oh nothing, Just wondering if you were gonna slap me again for making you leave." He retorts smacking my side with his hand. Ashley giggled through her hand as I rolled my eyes playfully at Leon, smacking him back.

"Whatever, I'm just glad you're okay." I brush off more ash from his cheek before standing up, offering my hand down to Leon as I do. Ashley follows in suit.

He takes our hands as we struggle to tug him up.

"You're welcome?" Ashley shoves her elbow into his side, causing a pained smile to come to his face. "Thanks." He chuckled out before turning back to me. I glanced at him closing my eyes for a brief second, opening them to find him inches away from my face.

He gave me a small peck before wiping some ash he had gotten on my cheek off with his thumb.

So that's what we're doing now? We kiss once and now we're a couple? Or is he just kissing me to kiss me? Or does he want to be more? Does this only exist because we got stuck together on the mission? I mean it is by fate right? He's kind of confusing... Are we dating? I mean he surely would've asked me to be his again right? Like before? Or maybe he just got used to the routine of us again. I don't know but it brings back so many memories, the way we had to part because he couldn't put me at risk. When we met in Raccoon city and how fast I grew attached. Leon I'm confused...

He releases his hand from my cheek, letting it fall to his gun holster. "The fire's bound to catch their attention. Let's keep moving." I nodded staying quiet, this time my thoughts and memories can't be pushed away, they're fucking haunting.

"Uh, Leon? I'm not going to turn into one of them right?" Ashley asks inching closer to me. As always she was behind me and Leon, as we walked together. "I won't let that happen." He grabbed my hand giving it a small squeeze, causing me to look up at him. His eyes we're the normal icy blue, tired, sad looking eyes they always were. But they we're so gentle and beautiful. So easy to get lost in.

"I promise." He gave my hand another squeeze before letting it find it's way back to his gun again, breaking eye contact as he did.

Leon had led us to another bridge, this one looked stable, and even led to a huge mansion looking castle. There were chains on each side of the bridge that led to a structure in the castle. The chains were to lift the bridge and close the entry way, and just as we crossed, that's what it did.

"What's going on?" Ashley questions as the bridge had begun to move while she was still on it. Scurrying to the edge she quickly found herself on the stable ground with us before the bridge, as we watched it close.

"Well, at least we don't have to worry about being followed." Leon turns around, hesitating as he takes in the huge mansion before us. "Come on." He looks to me briefly before turning back, and signaling us forward.

As we begin moving, Leon holds his hand up to his ear with the phone piece, letting us know that someone was calling him.

"Well I wanted to go home, but the girls just HAD to see this castle first." Leon cracks a joke into the phone before turning back to us, a smile plastered on our faces as he talks, earning a slight quiet giggle from us.

"Always with the dad jokes." I roll my eyes earning another giggle from Ashley.

"You know, I don't think it was a coincidence that you guys ended up in the same place again, fighting side by side after all these years." She whispers nodding her head towards Leon, who had began talking with his hands, just like he always did.

"Can I tell you a secret?" I whisper back earning a quick eager nod from her.

"I was looking for him. We were together after the Raccoon City incident. Just trying to rebuild and heal. We had made it through together and talked about how we felt about each other and decided to just make it easier on ourselves. Then one day he got a call and rushed out. I hadn't talked to him since but I had assumed it was because of all this. The military training and missions and everything. Which when I did some digging I found out that I was right. He left about 4 years ago." I give a faint smile talking about our memories, what we came to be, how we had been together, and how it sadly ended. Ashley stayed silent and I could've sworn she was sniffling.

"I can't say I don't love him, but with the lives we live now... Especially him... I just don't want to get in the way." I looked away from Leon and back at the ground. Things are different now.

"Y/N... they may be different but you still feel the same, you still ended up in the same place together, you're still fighting along side each other, and he'd still lay down everything for you. Just give it some thought. Maybe tell him how you feel. Things might not be that different after all." She whispered putting her hand on my shoulder in a comforting way.

"I know he still loves you." She whispered again this time closer to my ear, making sure Leon didn't hear. My heart sunk earing those words, as hope tugged at the wrinkles in my brain.

I hadn't noticed it before, but Leon was quiet... Was he off the phone? Did he hear??? Shit.

He stayed quiet, not letting us know if he did or not, and we continued on into the castle.

"Ahem. Alright, Luis just said he has a suppressant for the parasite. It should help us enough until we get it removed." Leon stated keeping his focus forward.

"Got it." Ashley said with a hint of excitement in her tone.

"Guess we better get going then." I scurry closer to Leon, earning his gaze as a small smile tugs at his lips as he nods us on.
