Leon's POV: The girls are quiet with slight chatter as they follow my lead through and around the building. The binoculars I hold let me seek out the gate I need to get through to get to the courtyard. Which of course is surrounded by demonic entities. Only two in sight for now luckily.
"Don't think our hosts are gonna roll out the red carpet." I lower the binoculars letting Y/N's grabby hands take them. Her eyes widen as she stares at the creatures in horror, watching as they sway lifelessly.
I take the binoculars back, watching as they enter a pair of double doors. I let my eyes travel around the castle zooming in when I need to. I can make out about four catapults on the roof, and some people in black cloaks with crossbows. Fire lights the path.
"Crossbows, huh. Something tells me they don't want to be friends." Y/N's hands find their way to my face barely reaching for the binoculars again. She snatches them letting her eyes trace where mine were. Always so curious that one. I didn't mind it until it got her in trouble. It got her here.
I take the binoculars back setting them back on the ledge I found them on.
"Things just keep getting better." A sigh escapes Y/N's lips as we make our way up another flight of stone stairs. "If we we're here on other circumstances, I'd think the castle would be beautiful."
Ashley tries to lighten the mood, but that's exactly the opposite of what it is. We're not here on other circumstances. They're using this place for awful things. From torture to god knows what. It's not a beautiful place. It's a hell.
A hell like Raccoon City. People suffer under someone else's control or because of other people's mistakes.
I feel my skin tighten at the sudden touch of cold fingers to my bicep. Y/N was looking at me wide eyed.
"You good?" She removes her hand setting it back on her gun.
"Yeah. Let's just keep moving." I answer surely, hoping she won't worry. I can't get stuck in my head. Not here, not now.
The minute we reach the top of the stairs, there is a loud shout followed by a close explosion of fire. They had readied the catapults.
"Fuck." I lean against the wall, slinging my arm out and around Y/N and Ashley, which slam against the brick wall. At least we can sort of dodge them.
"Alright listen to me. You both have to follow my lead, do not trail off, do not get lost. Pay attention if you want to survive." I lock eyes with each of them earning a quick nod from them both.
"No way! They have catapults." Ashley screams running after Y/N and I. I take out a cloaked man with a gun, finding a path blocked off from any view of the catapults.
"I guess this is their idea of a warm welcome!" I reload tossing Y/N another box of hand gun ammo. I don't know how much she has, but I don't want to take chances.
She takes out a few people behind us, letting us catch a breath for a second. But the fight was only just starting...
_______________
"Wow, look at this place. I mean, it's old but..." Ashley trails off as we enter the room, Y/N and I out of breath. I distracted the guys with the catapults while she snuck under to cut a canon free. Releasing it to the roof.
Ashley moves around in fascination, touching anything and everything she can get her hands on. Y/N is by me, just breathing as we both watch her.
"You alright?" I ask checking her for any new wounds. Her arm is still wrapped up and it seemed like she had completely forgotten about the one that I patched up on her leg in the bedroom earlier.
