"We need to do this." Says Wednesday.
"Xavier didn't get those scratches from fencing. He's hiding something." I add.
We've followed our latest suspect, Xavier, to a shed in the woods near Nevermore. When Wednesday saw the scars on his neck, which looked like claw marks, we immediately grew intrigued. Something is up with Xavier, I just wish we would've caught up on his behaviour, and that we would've studied him way before. At least now we have a clue.
"There he is," I whisper as Xavier exits the shed. "Let's go."
And we make our way to the shed as soon as the boy's out of sight. "Smart move, leaving the doors unlocked." I point out sarcastically. We go in, and immediately see several, maybe tens of paintings. Of the monster.
"I suppose every artist needs a muse." Wednesday mutters while observing the artwork. She grabs some drawings to her hand, and says; "Xavier, you just became that much more interesting."
We look around the shed one last time, before I shut the light and we head out. Just as we think we're in the clear, we hear "Wednesday, Y/N?" Both widening our eyes, turning around to face Xavier.
I freeze, but luckily Wednesday can speak. "Xavier. Hello."
"What are you guys going here?" He asks.
"Nothing." We answer at the same time. "I just saw you come out this way." Wednesday adds.
"What is this place?" I ask.
"It's kind of my private art studio. I cleared it out and fixed it up, so Weems let me use it." He explains, my heart beats just a bit faster, hearing her name so suddenly.
"How very entrepreneurial. We would love to see inside." Says Wednesday.
"Why don't you give us a tour?" I ask, narrowing my eyes ever so slightly.
He shakes his head. "Not right now. It's a total mess."
"I shadowed a crime scene photographer last summer. I'm not easily fazed." Wednesday insists.
Xavier frowns. "Maybe another time. Why were you guys looking for me?"
We look at each other, I shoot Wednesday a 'think of something, quickly' look. "We uh, we wanted to go over Ms Thornhill's homework assignment." I say.
Xavier looks at us weirdly. "She didn't give us homework. Remember?"
Shit.
"Right." I say, nudging Wednesday slightly so the boy wouldn't notice.
"Why are you really out here?" He asks, before a small smirk shows on his face and he leans forward suggestively, now looking at Wednesday only. "Is this about a certain dance that makes you want to poke needles into your eyes, perhaps? I'm all ears."
Wednesday looks like she's contemplating it.
Oh come on, Wednesday. It's your chance to get up close and personal with a potential serial killer. How could you refuse?
Looks like the girl with the black pigtails is thinking the same, since says something a little unexpected;
"Are you really going to make me ask?"
"Oh, absolutely." Xavier says with a wide smile.
Wednesday takes a deep, annoyed breath in and out, knowing there's no way out of this situation. "Would you... Would- Would you possibly consider going to the Rave'n dance with a certain... Would-"
Wow, she's really struggling.
"Would you go to the dance with me?" She asks finally.
Xavier laughs a little, but immediately answers; "Yes, Wednesday, I would love to go to the dance with you. I thought you'd never ask."
