A month after the night of our fight, I'm back at Nevermore after the holiday break. I have not seen her in a whole month. It's been killing me, I have no idea what she's been up to. I haven't even heard from her.
I know, I should've texted her. And I have tried, really. But every time I've typed out a message, I keep reading it over and over again until I start to overthink it and delete it. Maybe she doesn't even want me to reach out to her. Maybe we're not together anymore, but she just doesn't bother to tell me that. Maybe she's already moved on.
I space out the whole day, not focusing in a single class. And that makes me feel even worse, knowing how badly this whole thing affects my studies and functioning.
Why can't I just have a normal life?
After the last class of the day, math, I walk down the hallways towards my dorm hall. I cannot stand anything else right now, I just want to go and sleep. That's the only escape of this hell of a life at the moment.
But we can never have nice things, can we now?
As I'm rounding a corner to one of the bigger hallways, I stop dead in my tracks. In front of me, only a few feet away, Larissa. It seems like she had the same reaction as I did.
We both look like two deers in headlights, wide-eyed and staring at the other like there's nothing or no one else in the whole world.
Larissa looks tired. Her undereyes are dark and they've lost that pretty spark they usually have. Oh, God. This is all my fault.
The after-school traffic of the hallways seems to have faded completely, leaving only me and her standing there, alone in the corridor.
Knowing we can't just stay like this for the rest of the day, I do something I know I'll probably regret later.
"Hi." I almost whisper.
"Hi." She replies back softly.
There's a moment of silence, a moment of longing in both our eyes.
"How was your break?" I ask, not knowing what else to say or do.
"It was... quiet. And you?"
"Good. It was... good."
"Good." She nods.
Another awkward pause lingers. It's obvious we're both tiptoeing around the real thing.
"Look, Larissa, we need to talk."
She sighs and nods. "I know."
"Tonight?" I suggest.
She smiles the softest, smallest smile. "That sounds good. Tonight."

A few hours later I'm getting ready in my dorm, my mind on everything that's going on. I just hope me and Larissa will make up, I couldn't stand breaking up with her. She's the most important person in my life and honestly, I don't know if I could live normally anymore if we were to separate.
After I've changed out of my clothes, I grab my purse and head for the door. As I open it, I almost run into Lou who's holding her fist up, as if she were to knock any second now.
I blink in surprise, "Lou? What are you doing here?"
She eyes my outfit for a second, frowning. "Where are you going?"
