I'm laying with Larissa in her bed, as I'll be doing for every night from now on. The thought of 'living together' with her is just too endearing and I honestly can't wait for this new chapter in our lives. Though the reason for this arrangement is not that pleasant, it still warms my heart, knowing how much more time I'll be spending with her. But it's not like it's a major change, since I did sleep in here basically half the nights in a week anyway.
Just as I'm snuggled in a comfortable position, my head in the small of her neck, her phone rings.
I groan in annoyance, "Who the hell is calling you at this hour? This is far more important, don't you dare get up. I was just getting comfortable here." I mumble.
She chuckles, shifting my head to rest on the pillow as she sends an apologetic look to me, "I'm sorry, darling. It might be something important."
She goes over to her phone at the vanity, and I observe (or rather, admire) her every move. And as she picks up the phone, she freezes. Her eyes widen and she looks back at me in almost fear. I furrow my brows and sit up on the bed, "Who is it, Rissa?"
She doesn't reply, just stares at the screen before finally accepting the call and bringing the phone to her ear. "H-hello?"
The person on the other line seems to start talking as she makes an almost disgusted face and silently excuses herself to her office, leaving me dumbfounded on the bed. I quickly rush myself up and go to the door, pressing my ear against it to hear at least something. I know, I shouldn't be eavesdropping on her like this, but it seemed very important and serious.
I'm only able to make out a few words of what she says, like-
"When do you need me there?"
Or-
"How long?"
And even-
"Is this really necessary?"
And after a while, the call seems to end and I quickly scurry my way back to the bed, and not even seconds later she reappears in the room.
"Rissa, who was that?" I ask cautiously.
She sighs and sits down at the edge of the bed. And unexpectedly, she pulls me to her lap and in a deep hug. Like she needs this after that call.
"Darling- It was my mother. I've been requested back home in England during Thanksgiving by my parents."
I raise my brows in surprise. This is the first time she has ever even mentioned her parents.
"Oh? Why?" I ask as I get no other words out of my mouth in this small moment of shock.
"It's just some family matters to attend to. I'm not too sure either, but she mentioned something about the whole family and all relatives having a family meeting. Which, in the world of the Weems' family means hosting a party of the decade." She explains while rolling her eyes.
I nod slowly, "Okay... So, how long do I have to spend my nights alone missing you then?"
She sighs, now looking at me with almost pleading eyes, "Well, that's the thing. I was wondering if you'd like to come with me. I really don't feel comfortable leaving you here alone with everything that's going on. And I really can't not go. So, please?" She asks, smiling hopefully.
I look down to our intertwined fingers, thinking about it for a bit. "Are you sure you want your parents to meet me? Are you going to introduce me as your girlfriend? What if they don't like me, Rissa?" I start blabbering as I begin thinking of every possible (bad) outcome of me going with her.
