Over the course of the following days, I start feeling more comfortable around Larissa's parents. A laugh at my joke at the dinner table from her father, a smirk from her mother as I tell them about some hilarious adventures I've been on, some with Larissa.
And slowly, but surely, they begin warming up to me. It doesn't happen that easily, but there's constant progress going on. And Larissa has noticed it too, and she couldn't be happier we're all beginning to come along. It's almost like her relationship with her parents could be taking a turn for the better.
We've had the time of our lives so far. Larissa has showed me around the house and the grounds, showing me all her favourite spots and secret places no one else knows about. And I feel like I'm living a dream, I feel so peaceful and content in this environment here. I wish we could stay here forever.
And right now, we're laying in her bed, cuddling each other. It's late, we've just gotten out of the bath. I feel her soft lips brushing against my neck as she speaks, "Darling, would you like if I got us an evening snack here? I can go and fetch it from downstairs quickly, I'll be back in five."
I smile, kissing her temple, "Yeah, that would be nice. Would you like me to come down, too?"
She gets up, brushing a loose strand of hair behind my ear as she smiles down at me lovingly. "No need for that. You just rest here and I'll be back before you know it."
I kiss the back of her hand as she gets up, walking out of the room and closing the door behind her. I sigh, leaning back on the comfortable pillows as I close my eyes and try to relax. Taking in deep breaths, thinking of Rissa, my mind fills with calm and positive things and thoughts. For a moment, I think that I could be alone and just relax for a minute.
And then there's a ping on my phone.
I slowly open my eyes and sigh in frustration, picking it up from the bedside table. It's a text message, from an anonymous sender.
My eyes go wide as my breath catches in my throat. There's absolutely no way... This can't be...
With slightly trembling hands, I open the message, gasping as the phone falls from my hands. I get up and run over to the windows, scanning the outside before making sure they're locked and shutting the blinds.
I return to bed, picking up the phone again. They sent a picture of me, laying in this moment just one minute ago, all alone. Of course, it's accompanied by a text.
Darling Y/N,
You really are making it all too easy for me. From London to Tokyo, Paris to New York, Sydney to Rio... In this vast world, there really is no place you can hide from me.
I'll always find you, my love.
I stare at the message in utter fear, and then a sense of anger washes over me, making me reply to it:
Enough of this! Who are you, and why are you doing this? You can't hide forever, I won't let you creep on me like this, bastard. Show yourself!
Immediately, I get a response;
Y/N, no matter where you go, my thoughts follow. You can't escape what binds us.
You may not see it the way I do - that's alright. You'll see everything clearly, very, very soon. I'll always find you as my love for you knows no bounds.
I don't have a moment to even process the text further, as the door opens, making me flinch at the noise. In walks Larissa, with a tray of cut up fruits and some tea. She smiles at me, but that look of love soon fades away as she notices how stiff I am. She rushes over to me, setting the tray on the bedside table as the mattress dips, and she's sitting next to me.
