A/N- This chapter sorta lines up with the episode I think it's called the southern raides where Zuko and Katara go to get revenge on the man who killed katara's mother. So um yeah enjoy
*****
The next morning made for a very awkward breakfast around the campfire fire.
Sokka looked awful, like he hadn't slept at all while zuko hadn't even brothered changing out of yesterday's clothes. Suki didn't join them, she claimed she wasn't feeling well, sokka knew that wasn't true.
Toph on the other hand seemed to be getting quite a bit of enjoyment over what she was hearing...what she had sensed last night.
"So you and sokka huh?" encouraged Toph bugging zuko who was next to her.
"Nothing happened Toph" Zuko repeild half annoyed and half disappointed.
"Whatever you think, but the marks on your neck say otherwise"
"What I-" zuko's hand quickly moved to cover his neck "wait how can you even see those?"
"Let's just say I umm sensed them yesterday"
"Toph!! Your too young to be listening to that"
"Then why don't you stop being so loud, buddy?"
That one even got Aang's attention who was seated across from them next to sokka and katara, "whoa there guys! It's too early for that...remember violence is never the answer," at least he seemed to have no idea what conversation was actually about.
"Oh bla bla blah whatever you say Mr. air monk sir, I'm gonna go throw some rocks now" mocked Toph leaving the rest of them alone.
"So umm pretty fire, huh?" said zuko attempting (but not succeeding) to break the awkwardness.
"Of course you would say that" Sokka replied coldly.
Katara sensed the tension and quickly jumped in, "zuko, why don't we go get ready we should leave soon if we wanna make it to head off in time?"
Sokka didn't admit this often, but thank the spirts for katara.
The two boys exchanged quite smiles and a light wave, as zuko climbed onto appa a few minutes later. Aang was giving katara some speech about forgiveness but Zuko couldn't really think about that right now, the only thing he could think about was sokka and he hadn't forgiven him for last night. Zuko hadn't even forgiven himself for that yet.
Suki didn't bother to come out, she had remembered their plans to visit the southern raiders or something. Funny she new a thing or two about that after sokka raided her heart.
—————later that day while sokka and aang were gathering firewood————
Aang was making light work of what sokka thought of as a tedious task. He swiftly blew the sticks onto the pile he was collecting in his hands.
"Hopefully Suki will be feeling better in time for dinner tonight," said Aang. Sokka had been quite all day so he thought this little walk would be a good way to clear his mind. He also thought this was a simple way to start the conversation, but he was wrong.
"I don't know about that aang"
"Oh why not, have you two talked today?" aang questioned not meaning to be pushing Sokka by asking.
"Not since last night. Look, aang, I'm gonna be honest with you" sokka admitted. He couldn't lie to aang after all they'd been through, "Suki isn't actually sick, she's just sick of me"
