The Bite

I woke up early and got ready for the day. I made waffles for breakfast with some spam and eggs. I woke the kids up and dropped them off. I drove into work and I saw how chaotic it was.

"What happened?" I asked Penny.

"People have been coming in with bites." She told me.

"Doctor Hale we need you." A nurse said.

I went into the room and saw someone with a nasty bite. I gave him a sedative, before leaving. I went to my office and locked the door. The voices have gotten louder. As I tried ignoring them, my phone rang.

"Dad...it's louder." I told him

"Listen to me. They come back. They come back." He told me.

"Who? Who come back?" I asked him.

"The people who are bit. If they die, they turn into something different." He explained.

"How do you know?" I asked him.

"Because I saw it. It's bad. There everywhere. I'm on top of a roof right now. Shoot the brain. they go down, if you shoot the brain." he told me.

I could hear the yelling in the background.

"Dad...I don't know if I can do this alone." I told him.

"Oh, little wolf. I know you can. Get the kids and leave the city. Go somewhere secluded. Now." He told me.

"Okay. I will. I love you, dad." I told him.

"I love you, too. Now go." He told me.

I hanged up and grabbed my medic bag in the office, before grabbing another bag and filling it with supplies from a cart. I looked at my phone and saw a voicemail from the schools.

"Hello, all parents, the schools are closed until further notice. Please come pick up your kids and get home safely." It said.

"Penny, I have to get the kids. Can you cover for me?" I asked her.

"Sure." She told me,

I left the hospital, with the bags in the trunk, before driving to Athena's school. I got out and saw some people not looking to well.

"Mommy." She said, running into my arms.

"Come on, baby. We have to get your siblings." I told her.

We went to the middle school, and I saw Alec with his siter already. they climbed into the car.

"Mom, what's going on? Why was school canceled?" He asked me.

"I don't know, but we're going to go on a little trip for a while." I told them all.

"Where are we going?" Izzy asked.

"We're going to go camping for a while." I told them.

"Cool/Okay/Yay!" They all said.

They all went inside and I moved the med bags into the truck. I went to my room and started packing my bags. I had my bag filled with clothes, the beastiary, a photobook, medicine, and ammo. I set it on the table downstairs before going to Thena's room.

I grabbed her travel bag and started packing it. Clothes, colors, and her favorite stuff animal. Thankfully, she wasn't in the room. I went to Izzy's next.

"Mom, what are you doing?" She asked me as I packed her gymnastics bag.

"Packing your bag for you. I need you to hand me something you want to keep with you." I told her.

Clothes, her sword, an album of her and her dad. I took it downstairs as she watched tv. Next was Alec's.

"What's going on, mom? I can smell your fear." he told me.

"There's something happening. People are turning into something. Your grandfather called me, to warn me. These people who are being bit, are turning into something we have never seen. We have to aim for the head, for it to die. We're going to go somewhere secluded, until it's safe again." I explained.

"Okay. When are we leaving?" He asked me.

"Tomorrow. I need to gather more supplies and fill up the truck. I already have drinks, foods, medicine, and a tent in there for us. All we have to do is put our bags in there and we can leave." I told him.

He nodded his head. He grabbed his track/field bag, emptying it, before filling it with clothes, books, and his extra arrows. I took it from him and went downstairs, placing it with the others.

I went down to the basement and grabbed all my weapons on the table. I brought them upstairs and placed them on the counter. I grabbed pillows and from my bedroom, placing them in the truck, knowing the kids would need them. I grabbed a comfy blanket, before going to the kids room and grabbing a blanket for each of them. After placing them neatly in the truck, I went to Alec's room.

"I'm going to head out for a while. I need you to make sure no one comes in here. I'll be back as soon as possible. Call me if there is any trouble." I told him.

He nodded and I left his room.

"Mom." I heard. I saw Izzy, looking at me, with fear.

"What is it, Iz?" I asked.

"The voices. There getting loud." She told me. 

"What are they saying?" I asked her.

"Bite. Over and over." She told me. "What does it mean?" She asked.

"I'll explain as soon as I know. Try to ignore it as best as possible. If you need to scream, then scream. I have to go, but I'll be back as soon as possible." I told her.

She nodded and went back to her room. I left the house drove to the gas station. I filled the car up, before filling the tanks I have. I went back home and filled the truck with gas. 

After, knowing everything is packed and ready to go, I put the kids bag in the truck, before placing my bow/arrow in the front seat, alongside my gun. I kept my sword, knives, and pistol with me, though.

I went to the kids' rooms and made sure they all fell asleep, before going to bed myself.
