Chapter Thirty-Five

Stella:

I felt movement in the room and slowly tried waking myself up. When I woke up, I saw Rick.

"What happened?" I got out.

"You need to give your a voice a chance to heal." He told me. I felt myself feel faint and honestly didn't understand how. I gave him a look.

"I was attacked by someone. I killed them and escaped, but the rv busted. I made a run for it, and I did it, but the walkers that didn't get distracted from your scream are at the gates. I don't know how long it can hold." He told me.

I got up and I grabbed a journal.

Everyone should have weapons. I had Carol pass them out. The kids also have plenty of weapons for this too. I wrote.

"Okay. We'll keep a close eye on the walkers and go from there." He told me.

I nodded and he went downstairs. I went to the restroom. They had test down there. I locked the doors and took the test.

Pregnant. Pregnant. Pregnant.

They all said pregnant. God damnit. I tried thinking back When Rick and I did it. When we first got here, but I would know too soon. I started thinking and figured it out. At the church. 

No wonder I feel more tired than usual. My voice shouldn't be overused this much when pregnant. I threw the test away and listened for the heartbeat. I'm almost 7 weeks along. Finally, I heard it.

I cried listening to the heartbeat. Peanut is strong right now. That's good. I wiped my face and went down.

I knew the boys could smell my tears. They came right towards me. I pointed to my ears and they listened. I smiled when I saw their reaction. They both smiled at me.

We walked outside together and jumped on the roof. I held Isabelle, while Magnus had Athena. Tyresse is watching Judith.

I could see hundreds of walkers outside the wall.

"What are we going to do?" Magnus asked.

"Fight." I whispered.

"Can we tell them?" Alexander whispered.

I nodded.

"Athena, Izzy, mom's pregnant." Alec told them.

They both jumped me, and I laughed. 

"Can we tell Carl?" Isabelle asked.

I nodded. We jumped down and they ran to tell Carl.

I smiled and went to go lay down. When I woke up again, I saw it was night. I found Rick next to me. He had the pregnancy test.

"Are...Are you pregnant?" He asked me.

I nodded. I waited for his reaction.

"I'm happy, excited, but I worry. What if what happened to Lori, happens to you?" He asked.

"It won't. Lori was in a bad situation and that caused her to stress. We are in a community. Yes, there are walkers, but we can handle that. I'm a hybrid, I have fast healing." I told him.

"Okay. I'm really glad about this baby." He whispered, putting his hand on my stomach. I nodded.

"Is this why you've been feeling more tired?" He asked.

"When I get pregnant, my body starts feeling more tired. I can't be using my voice as much as I did back on the road. It could cause me to miscarry. My strength can change. I usually have control over it, but my mood swings make it shift." I explained in a whisper.
