set myself free

allowed myself to be used by you,
and it's a norm I easily got used to
treated me like an option in your life,
a notion that became our way of life

around every corner of this house is filled with haunting voices
people were foul-mouthed into the void without consequences
I'm drowned by the exceeding shame while you're vindicated
lost myself in a world you set on fire, now I'm left incinerated

ashes landing on my skin while engulfed in the flames you started
fighting every protruding detriment from the time we once departed
ethereal eyes met once in a lifetime as a butterfly passed us by,
only to leave me traumatized since swearing our goodbyes

can't seem to fathom the heavyweight living in my chest today
suddenly, it struck out of nowhere when you unexpectedly called
compositions of recollections of the ill-effects start to replay
as my eyes weep for the first time again, it leaves me appalled

I realized that this heart of mine can be downright unforgiving
as my body shakes, I can't bear your presence in the thick of healing
unaware of such emotion, I answered your call, leaving you amused
would a heart know when it won't no more show signs of blues?

firmly grasping on o what previews to be a silver lining
—by getting an excellent scores on my papers and essays
written along the lines are about how the sun is glistening
yet, a heart is mournful from what happened after that day

a virtue turned into a vice, learning the moral of the story
but how do I set myself free from this agonizing territory?
do I still have to depend on you to get myself out of here?
it's no use asking since the future we hold is quite unclear

apprehending that setting the record straight won't do any good
if one couldn't reconcile, while the other is still being misunderstood
two pinky-fingers crossed till a promise isn't proven to be true anymore
a bond is now broken, impossible to restore what has been done for

it's the same old story when a battling fight starts to escalate,
then after an abrupt whim, you'd be coming back in a few days
hate that it's easy for you to leave me with all your consequence
now, I'm trying to find the strength in regaining my independence
