"What are you doing up here?" Axel asked me. I gulped, exhaling slowly. I guess he's got a right to ask that. It's his house.
"I just... had to use the bathroom. The other ones were being used." I explained. "Someone spilled a drink on me."
"Yeah." Axel nodded, clenching his teeth and stepping away. He stood tall across from me in this dark corner of the house, leaning against his bedroom door. I leaned against the bathroom one. "It was that loser, junior right?" I wonder if he'd seen Cole and I dancing. I didn't notice him watching us.
I scoffed, rolling my eyes at Axel's immediate rude tone of voice. "Come on. You don't have to be mean to him." I crossed my arms over my body, covering my stomach. Axel dropped his gaze to my waist for a moment, and then he looked back up to my face.
"Whatever Kam. Just go downstairs to your ridiculous party."
"Hey." I frowned, uncrossing my arms and placing my palms on my hips. I straightened out my back, as if my posture would intimidate him and make up for the one foot of height difference between us. It didn't. "Why are you being so damn rude?"
"Don't act like you didn't start it with your attitude." He argued.
"I didn't. Besides, you always take it too far. What's the point of dragging Cole into it? Why do you hate him so much?"
"You did," He ignored the rest of my question. "You brought the whole thing up by attacking my costume unprovoked. Then you get upset when I say something about yours? You can't take what you dish out."
I clenched my teeth, obviously drunk and realizing that what I'm about to say is petty and foolish. "Whatever! My costume is way better than yours! Like, objectively it's better!"
"You're a total bitch." He brought his hand to his head, on top of his red hat. "Seriously, can you be any more immature? All you do is irritate me constantly."
I huffed, feeling a burning in the back of my throat. Anger bubbled up inside of me at his sentence. He claims that I'm immature? Really? Everything that's happened between us over the last months invaded my mind, discomposure erupting within me.
"You're a complete asshole, Axel. Fuck you, genuinely. You're mean to me, and you're mean to Cole for no reason. You're just overall unpleasant to be around." I huffed.
"Why do you care about this kid? I don't give a fuck about him, but here you are defending him with your life. Are you actually into him?" Axel scoffed, putting a smile of disbelief onto his face. He put his hands lazily on his hips.
"Wha-- No!" I defended. "I don't care-- I just... I think it's mean, and unnecessary! He's a nice guy! What's the point in being rude? He so clearly wants to befriend you, but you constantly shut him down! It's just disrespectful!" I began to shout.
The music coming from downstairs was muffled, the walls feeling like they were thumping and the orange and purple lighting barely hitting us from up here. The most prominent sound was our angry, heavy breathing, and the sounds of our vicious words cutting at each other back and forth.
Axel laughed sarcastically at my claim. He shook his head, and then rolled his tongue on the inside of his cheek. I watched his pink soft lips move as he said his next words.
"Really Kameron, you think that you're the kindest person in the world, and that there's simply nothing wrong with you. But that's not true. You're just as much a piece of shit as I am."
