"But Annabeth! Please!" Percy whined, giving me those adorable baby Seal eyes. I felt butterflies in my stomach and I silently cursed myself for being in love with my best friend. "Seaweed Brain, how many times to I have to tell you! No! I will not go try talk to an olive tree." I complained.
Yes, my best friend (and crush-but he doesn't need to know that), hero of the battle of the Laybrinth, wanted me to try to talk to an olive tree. We were sat on the dock and I couldn't help but blush as he hugged me. We never brought up the fact that we kissed. I was sure he had forgotten. I mean, who would like a girl like me? I was so lost in thought that I didn't even realise my Seaweed Brain had thrown me into the canoe lake.
I swam to the surface, gasping for air, when a soft, steady hand yanked me down to the bottom of the lake into and air bubble. I hit Percy and he looked at me apologetically. Then, as if nervous, he took my hand and pulled me towards it. Looking at me straight in the eyes, he kissed me. His soft lips moved with mine and I wrapped my arms around him.
Just Best friends?? Not anymore.
