AN/ this is dedicated to Rainyday708 !!! And this chappy will have some very colourful language, so don't say I didn't warn you! But seriously, if you aren't in high school (UK Year 7) don't read or this will be a massive shock and I don't want to get you lovely lot in trouble for learning some bad language and me potentially ruining your innocence.
ANNABETH
I woke with a start, disorientated and not knowing where I was. Reluctantly, I opened my eyes and I looked around to see the familiar scene of my cabin. I tried to sit up but my arms were wrapped around something warm and very much alive. Shit. And it was wrapped around me. Looking slowly to my left I saw Percy and remembered everything that happened last night (AN you better not be thinking dirty things.) when I asked him to stay with me. "Crap shit balls mother f-"
I was cut off when Percy opened his eyes and said the most vibrant arrangement of swear words I had ever heard, and that's saying something. I am I pirate after all. He stiffened up and I realised we were still cuddling. I blushed and leapt to the other side of the bed. His eyes were wide and he scratched the back of his neck nervously. "Annabeth-"
"No one can know about this. At all. "
"I fucked up."
"Percy it was my fault, I asked you to stay. But it didn't mean anything, I was delusional, or sleep deprived or -"
"It's fine , honestly."
"We're never going to hear the end of this if the crew find out. And gods if our parents do. Then I'll see you in Tartarus. "
"Annabeth," he grabbed on to my shoulders, since when were we on a first name basis? "It didn't mean anything, I was just following orders."
Ouch. That hurt. Not that I liked him, but you know. "Sure , sure it meant nothing." I looked around my cabin to find the clock. It was 11 am. "Shit."
"What?"
"It's 11. Seaweed Brain everyone's going to be awake! They'll know!"
"Calm down, it'll be fine." He was lying. He was probably freaking out too. The arse.
PERCY
"Calm down, it'll be fine." Bullshit. I was completely flipping. I had to remain calm though, for Annabeth. Annabeth, I liked it. "What do you mean it'll be fucking fine! They'll think I'm a slut holy crap I've not even been here three months !" She was close to tears, and she was raking her hands through her hair. After the time I'd known her, I'd never seen her vulnerable side, even as a first mate. She was always sure faced and certain. "Annabeth," I grabbed her face gently."Listen, I know this crew. I've been a part of it since I was twelve, I'm sixteen now. I know them like the back of my hand. Of course they're going to tease but they'll never think that of you."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course Wise Girl."
"Wise Girl? You're gonna have to do something better than that."
"Hey leave me alone! It makes sense! Your mum's Athena!"
"Yeah yeah whatever." She pulled me in for a hug. I wasn't expecting it, so I stiffened up. I had been so long since I'd hugged someone, the feeling was foreign. I snapped out of it and hugged her back. It felt nice, it felt right. I buried my head in her hair and squeezed her tighter, revelling in the feeling of safeness. And at that moment half the crew ran in.
"Captain!"
"Miss!"
A million voices tried to speak at the same time until the noticed what we were doing and burst out laughing. We both stood up, bright red. Annabeth cleared her throat.
"What do you think you're doing?" Annabeth was back to her old intimidating self. The crew looked at her and laughed again. Bad move. "So, you and old bright eyes huh? Who'd have thought." A man we called Hedge spoke up. "Nice going cupcake!" He winked at me. Oh gods help me. Annabeth on the other hand was fuming. "Listen here you assholes. I don't care what you saw or what you think you saw but I swear to gods I can and will make you all regret saying a single word about this. Remember. I am the captain. "But-"
"No. Buts."
"Aye Sir."
"Now, give me and Percy five minutes and we'll join you in the board room. We're planning a raid on the Andromeda."
As the guys walked out half of them winked or raised their eyebrows.
Annabeth walked over and grabbed my hand. "Promise me one thing Percy."
"What is it?"
"Don't leave."
"What do you mean?"
"Just please don't leave. You're the closest thing I've ever had to a friend, and one of the only people that can make me smile."
"Of course." I gave her a smile and hugged her.
"Now," she smirked, grey eyes twinkling, "let's go plan a raid!"
She practically skipped down the corridor, dagger raised. I ran after her, laughing harder than I had in years.
"Did you have fun last night then?"
Of all the people to make a comment about that I never thought it would be Grover. "What the hell Grover!"
"What?"
"You know full well what! We didn't do anything though!"
"But you like her, don't you?"
"No!" Okay that was a lie, maybe I did. A little bit. Maybe that's another lie. I don't know how I felt, I never really liked anyone before. It was confusing.
"I smell bullshit."
"Grover! Language!"
"As if you're one to talk!"
"Touché."
"Oi ladies shut up we have a ship to raid!"
Annabeth took out a shield. Now, pirates didn't use shields, but being demigods we tended to have that extra precaution incase some monsters wanted to come and pay a visit. "So. I 'borrowed' this from a raid with my old ship and it's pretty useful. Watch." She spun it around until a holographic image appeared. It was amazing, like her. Wait what am I thinking?
"This is the Andromeda." The ship was daunting to say the least. It must have been a live image, because something walked across the deck. Wait. It didn't look human. Annabeth must have noticed it too, she went as pale as an empousa . "Guys, go polish you swords or something." Everyone looked confused but followed her orders. I ran up to Annabeth. "We can't do this raid."
"Percy what do you mean?" She started whispering.
"You know damn well what I mean. You saw what walked across the deck. It was a monster. A hydra. We can't take them across the ship. They're human they can't see through the mist! They'll die!"
"You think I haven't realised! I thought I was just seeing things! Luke wouldn't...."
"Who the hell is Luke?"
"That's his ship. We knew each other as kids. But what is he doing with a ship full of monsters?"
"I don't know."
"It was a rhetorical question dumbass."
"Oh right. Sorry."
"Percy -"
"Don't, you're stressed I get it, it's not easy being a demigod."
"Right."
"Anyway, I better go, I haven't used Riptide in a while."
"Riptide, as in the sword?"
"Yeah why?"
"Gods we're in a heap of shit."
"What?"
"Well it's a long story, meet me at the bay tonight and I'll tell you, now let me do what I do best and think."
"Okay, see you later Wise Girl."
"Bye!" She smiled, but something looked off. Her eyes were sad. I didn't like it one bit. I spent the rest of the day trying to keep sea monsters away from the ship, and I got a huge headache. My head was pounding as I searched for a quiet place on the ship. Anywhere away from the racket the crew was making would be fine. It was a Friday night, so the weekly drinking competition was on. I walked down to the bay, figuring I could get a bit of sleep before meeting Annabeth there and then heading on night watch again. I found a corner and rest my head on a bag of sugar, which Annabeth would probably kill me for, sugar is worth a shit ton of money. I closed my eyes and fell to sleep. "Percy."
"What?"
"Percy wake up we need to talk!"
My eyes snapped open to see Annabeth face inches away from mine. "Oh hi!" I rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly. It was strange seeing her from this close. I could see every little detail. From the freckles scattered across her face like constellations and the storminess of her eyes. She leaned back and sat down crossed legged. "So you wanted to know about Luke."
"You don't have to tell me you know. I trust you." She seemed taken aback by that.
"Well I want to. I guess I trust you too."
"So, you know how my mum is Athena? When I was younger she guided me to the Andromeda, which was the ship Luke and my friend Thalia was on. Long story short, Thalia was murdered by the Captain, we killed the Captain that killed Thalia and Luke became the Captain. I was 10. It's pretty messed up."
