It was around one am and Annabeth couldn't sleep. She was staying at her best friends Percy's house. She leant on her elbow and gazed at him on the floor. She felt awful stealing his bed but he insisted. Annabeth had had a major crush on Percy since they first met when they were twelve, four years ago. Thinking about it now, it was more of a crush. She loved him. For all the little things, like how he loved blue food and the way he gave you an adorable half grin why he was trying not to laugh. How safe you felt when he hugged you, and when he did how right it felt when he rested his chin on the top of your head. "ANNABETH!" Percy screamed. "Percy! What's wrong?"He sat bolt upright covered in sweat, shaking like crazy. He ran his hand through his hair and gave a look of utter confusion. "What happened?"
"Gods Seaweed Brain you're useless aren't you? You yelled my name and then woke up shaking. Speaking of shaking you haven't stopped. Come on." She looked at him.
"What?"
"Get. In. The. Bed. Now. I already feel bad about taking it, and now you've had an episode like that I feel even worse."
"But I can't!"
"Why?"
"Because?"
"Because what Fish features?"
"Hey! I'm not that ugly am I?"
"No. Now come on." Annabeth looked at him and slowly held out her hand for him to grab. Hesitantly, he did but stayed as far away as Annabeth as he could. They laid in silence looking at each other. Annabeth truly didn't mean to fall in love or whatever it was. She didn't believe in such things. But with Percy, she believed there could be. She wanted to tell him, but there was to much at stake. "Wise Girl?" Percy whispered from the other side of the bed. "Yeah?"
"I like you."
"I like you too Seaweed Brain."
"I mean I like you like you. Goddammit I love you!" Percy sat up and put his head in his hands. Slowly, Annabeth crawled over to his and took his hands away from his face. She kissed him softly on the lips and smiled. "I love you too Water Boy."
"Don't call me water boy." But he was smiling all the same. Neither of them meant to fall in love, they were sorry at first but now, it was the most beautiful thing they had felt in a long time.
