"Annabeth..."
"Hmm?" I looked up from my book to see Percy staring at me intently with his arms open. There was something wrong, I could tell. He looked like he was going to cry. Percy didn't cry. Never in all the years I'd known him have I seen my best friend cry. I put down my book and say next to Percy on his bunk. I scooted closer to him and he wrapped his arms around me. I never noticed how nice he smelt before. He smelt of the sea and fresh air and safe. "Percy?" My voice was muffled by his chest, but it was still audible. "Yeah?"
"What's wrong?"
"I don't know." I moved back so I could see his face. His eyes looked so empty, so broken. "Don't lie to me Seaweed Brain. I've known you long enough to know when something is up with you."
"I'm fine." His eyes were watery and he looked like he was going to crack. "No you're not. Tell me." My voice was soft and quiet. I moved so we were laying down with his head on my lap. Unknowingly my fingers were playing with his hair, twirling it and twisting it. After a long silence he finally spoke. "It was a dream."
I tensed. If a dream made Percy feel like this, it must be bad.
"A dream?"
"Yeah. "
"What happened."
"You....you died. Right in front of me and...and there was nothing I could do about it. "
A single tear fell down his cheeks. "Percy?"
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be. Come here."
"Wise Girl?"
"Don't make me force you." I sat up and hugged him tight.
"I promise you, I'm not going anywhere Percy. "
"Okay."
I sat there hugging him while thoughts ran rampage in my head. I loved Luke didn't I? But then why did it feel so right with Percy here in my arms? My heart was thumping and I knew what choice I needed to make. Damn you Aphrodite. I need to forget about Luke. Percy was all I need. Percy is all I need. I kissed his hair and hugged him tighter. "I love you Seaweed Brain. "
"I love you too Wise Girl."
