(This one shot is inspired by Imagine Dragons' Nothing Left To Say. It's an AU, they are in Year 11 in high school - Enjoy)
There was really nothing left to say. Annabeth had given up. She'd seen Rachel, her former second Best Friend, kiss her Best Friend Percy, who Rachel knew how Annabeth's feelings had developed for him.
It literally shattered her heart into a million pieces, jagged and harsh. Annabeth had walked right in on them, and them practically ran back out, her eyes stinging. She had barley made it to Piper before she broke down.
"Annabeth, what's wrong?" Piper asked.
"P...P...Percy and...and...Rach..Rachel were kissing and...she...she knows how I feel about Percy!" Annabeth sobbed.
"Oh Annabeth,"Piper said sympathetically."Come here." Piper wrapped Annabeth in a hug and then they walked to their next Period, which Annabeth had with Percy. Drying her eyes, she took her familiar seat next to Percy who was looking at her intently, knowing something was up.
"Annabeth, what's wrong? And don't even think about saying nothing. My bestie senses are tingling." Percy asked softly, but then cracked up with the smile Annabeth loved.
"Just my Dad, and the fact that I've been emotionally scarred by walking in on you playing tonsil tennis with Rachel. When did you two start dating??" I aked, elbowing him in the ribs forcefully.
"Oh she just kinda forced herself onto me. To be honest I don't really like her, I prefer someone else" he admitted shyly.
"Mr Jackson, Miss Chase, do you plan on doing anywork this lesson, or just flirting?" asked the teacher, and I looked down blushing. We spent the rest of the lesson in silence, and then began the conversation again after the bell had rung for the end of the day.
"So," I teased."Who's the unlucky lady??"
"Piper."
"Oh" It had seemed my heart had broken again. I made an excuse and practically ran the rest of the way home.
Ironically, Percy lived next to me in a movie like scenario. His window facing mine with a huge tree in the middle, and we used it frequently to talk to each other. I had given up. Nothing he could say could make me feel...except one thing.
I was in the middle of doing my homework when I heard a thud on the foor. I spun around, ready to run. I gasped to find Percy on the floor, cheeks bright red.
I rushed over to him. "Percy! What happened??" I helped him over to my bed, and he said one word before collapsing into my arms. "Gabe."
I laid him down on my bed and took in all of his injuries. I knew Gabe abused him and his mother, and Percy and Sally often took refuge at my house. A split lip, bruised jaw, cuts on his arms, and a nasty gash his back. I took the first aid kit out of my draw and set to cleaning him up.
"Oh Seaweed Brain...What am I going to do with you?" I whispered after I saw my nickname Wisegirl doodles over and over on his hand and wrist. He was sleeping soundly as I lightly kissed him and curled up beside him.
"Wise Girl"
"Yeah?" I said sleepily.
"Wake up!" Percy was shaking me now, so I forced myself to open my eyes and look at him.
"Seaweed Brain, be carefull, you're hurt."
"I was wrong. I'm sorry I didn't realise how you felt?"
"What do you mean KelpHead?"
His reply was the best thing that ever happened to me. He hugged me tight and kissed me.
You see, I didn't realise it but I was falling and drowing in the waters of my soul until he caught me and saved me.
