CHAPTER FOURTEEN ——
SUPER FUNNY SUPERHEROES"ALRIGHT, WERE ALL CLEAR OVER HERE." Hazel took a deep breath as she stood beside Pietro, speaking into the comms.
"Us too. All clear."
"We are not clear! We are very not clear!" Hazel shook her head as she began her walk towards Steve and the others.
"What do you think you're doing?" The redheaded Barton girl turned back to see Pietro with his arms crossed over his chest.
"Going to meet the team." Pietro grinned as he shook his head, spreading towards her and picking her up bridal style. "Pietro!" The platinum blonde chuckled as he ran her towards the team, going back around for his sister, who was with Clint.
"Keep up old man!" Clint aims an arrow at the boy, scoffing.
"Nobody would know. Nobody." The older man slowly started to jog towards the others. "The last I saw him, when Ultron was sitting on him. Uh...yeah, he'll be missed, that quick little bastard. I miss him already."
..........
"The next wave's gonna hit any minute. What have you got, Stark?" Everyone heard the man sigh over the comms as they fought off the bots.
"Well, nothing great. Maybe a way to blow up the city. That'll keep it from impacting the surface if you guys can get clear."
"I asked for a solution, not an escape plan." Hazel groaned as she used her powers to take out more drones, knowing she needed to rest up to let herself heal. She couldn't do that to her team though, she needed to help them fight.
"Hey, kid, you okay?" Hazel glanced over to her older brother, nodding her head in response.
"All good, birdshit."
"Impact radius is getting bigger every second. We're going to have to make a choice."
"Cap, these people are going nowhere. If Stark finds a way to blow this rock..." Hazel sighed, shutting her eyes for just a second.
"I can get a lot of them back down to the ground, but if this things falls, we'll have a lot more dead than we first thought." Steve thought for a moment, knowing that idea wouldn't work and it could risk a lot of peoples lives.
"Everyone up here versus everyone down there? There's no math there."
"I'm not leaving this rock with one civilian on it."
"I didn't say we should leave." Steve turned to look at her while she looked out over the rock. "There's worse ways to go. Where else am I gonna get a view like this?" Suddenly, a voice came from the comms, surprising everyone.
"Glad you like the view, Romanoff. It's about to get better." The Helicarrier came into everyone's view, making Hazel grin. "Nice, right? I pulled her out of mothballs with a couple of old friends. She's dusty, but she'll do."
"Fury, you son of a bitch." The Barton girls eyes widened as she looked over at Steve, wondering if she had heard him right.
"Steven Rogers, what would your mother say?"
"You kiss your mother with that mouth?" As everyone watched the lifeboats fly in towards them, Pietro turned to Hazel.
"This is Shield?" The red headed girl nodded her head with a grin.
"This is what Shield's supposed to be."
"This is not so bad."
"Alright, let's load 'em up! Alright, here we go. Here we go, let's move. Let's go everyone!" As the team continued to help the people onto the Helicarrier lifeboats, Clint walked over to Hazel, who was almost completely fine. "You feeling better?"
"Yeah, almost good enough to go back to kicking your ass, old man." Clint glared at his younger sister as she chuckled.
"You've never been able to kick my ass."
"You sure about that, Francis?" The older Barton looked towards his little sister as she laughed at her own words. "Come on, let's go save people."
"Wait, you don't get to use my middle name like that and leave. You're being an asshole right now, Hazel and I'm not appreciating it very much."
"Talk about being an asshole. You chased me around the complex last month with your bow and arrows to see if my shadows could stop your electricity arrows." Clint scoffed, telling her he still wanted to know if it could. "Get out of here, Clinton. I'm busy being good at my job."
"That's funny. Real funny."
"I know. Superhero by day, stand up comedian at night. I'm multitalented, you shit stain."
"Whatever you say, Haze."
