Ha-rin

"Hyunjin!" Duri exclaimed in a sing-song, teasingly matter.

I saw Hyunjin freeze in the corner of my eye and then quickly made his way down and kicked Duri which didn't have any effect on him. Duri went ahead and punched him right across the jaw, making me gasp. "Hyunjin!" I cried.

The other boys took notice of my yell and went to help Hyunjin so he didn't get beaten up.

"Didn't he die?" Clarity questioned.

"I think he's like I.N, half and half." I told her, "that's why I.N is affected like him."

It was a struggle to hold the tarp since the zombies aren't at all that smart and tried to get through, but they kept on stepping on it, almost pulling me over the railing, but Clarity gripped onto my sweater just in time.

All of a sudden, I could smell smoke through the air and the door behind me beeped. "Guys! It's open!" Chan announced and ran through the door.

"Push them down!" Felix yelled to I.N and Seungmin who were fighting the zombies who got past the tarp.

Felix and Hyunjin worked together to push Duri and the other zombies down the stairs and raced up. Hyunjin took ahold of my hand once again and pulled me out of the door just to see the helicopter fly away as soon as we get out.

We all yelled and waved as I.N and Seungmin closed the door behind us, but the helicopter never turned back to collect us.

Clara started sobbing and Bangchan held her in comfort as she sobbed into his shoulder.

"I thought Duri died." I.N said quietly, "Clarity and I threw him off of third floor, he should've died."

"Ha-rin and I discussed this before." Clarity said, "you're like him, he's like you. That's why you're affected." She said calmly.

"Why did that asshole be half and half?" Seungmin groaned as he dropped his head to I.N's shoulder.

"I found an 'O'!" Han called. I forgot about everyone else for a moment, but I think they're looking for things to spell 'SOS'. "That's all you have?" Clara asked him from the other side of the roof.

"Got anything better?" He snapped back and brought a large tire out into the middle and placed it down on the ground. The rest of us went to go help make the sign, looking around the roof which was piled with leftover or broken junk.

"Move this one over here."

"That's not going to work for the 'S'."

"The 'O' is too narrow, it needs to be a little wider."

A lot of words were thrown at each other while we worked together to make the sign.

Once we were finished, night had fallen at this point and no other helicopters flew over the school, but we needed to start a fire to keep as warm.

I sat on the ground and everyone circled around my as I rubbed two pieces of wood together, slowly warming up, but only drilling a hole into the wood. I sighed as my hands started cramping up. I shook my left hand for a quick second then went back to drilling, but nothing was happening. "I'm done." I said as I stood up from my spot and stretched my hands to get rid of the cramps.

Bangchan took my spot on trying to start the fire while I walked around the roof, looking up at the sky, wondering if anyone is coming back for us. Wondering if my father is looking for me.

"You'll get tired, slow down." I heard Seungmin tell Chan.

"The fire won't start if he goes slow." Han said.

Chan suddenly drops the stick and does the same thing as me. Stretches his hands because of cramps.

Felix takes his spot and starts rubbing the wood together again and this time, a small spark showed, then a few and everyone started to move away and Felix blew on the sparks to get the fire bigger.

Changbin collected more wood for the fire as everyone sat around it at a good distance. I took a spot in between Clarity and Hyunjin and crossed my legs as I stared at the flames.

Chan sat down next to Felix who rested his head on his shoulder and Chan wrapped an arm around his shoulder. Felix looked completely exhausted and ready to sleep. He didn't sleep at all last night, so I hope he sleeps tonight.

It was pitch black in the distance in just seconds and the only light we had was from the flames in the middle of us and the moon in the sky.

"Han, how was your audition the other day?" Lee Know asked and Han shrugged.

"It went well, they said I need to work on my dancing." He replied.

"What song did you audition with?" Seungmin asked.

"I sang 'Hallelujah' and dance to 'Bouncy' by ATEEZ." Han answered.

"Can you sing 'Hallelujah' please? It's one of my favorite songs." I asked him. He smiled at me and looked down at his lap and then back up at us. 

"Well I heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the lord,
But you don't really care for music do ya?"

Chan, Felix and I.N joined in with him and slowly Hyunjin, Changbin, Lee Know and Seungmin also did. The boys harmonized the song together, making me smile.

Hyunjin has always been a great singer. He always sings to himself, but I used to catch him all the time. But now, hearing him sing along with the other guys made my stomach flutter, and I feel happy for him, for being able to make friends this way.

"It goes like this, the fourth the fifth,
The minor falls, and the major lifts
The baffled King composing Hallelujah."

I closed my eyes and rested my head on Hyunjin's shoulder as I took in their voices.

June

I opened the door from the music storage room and glanced around. I heard them, and I didn't want to come out. I was hoping they wouldn't come to this room. I hated how they accused me of Jamie's death. I just wanted to prove them all right. I didn't want to embarrass myself with the wrong idea that he got infected.

I need to get out of the school. I need to get somewhere else that isn't here.

I was about to head towards the window until I heard the door slide open, making me jump and whip around, only to see Duri, the school's asshole. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest. "Can I help you?" I asked him and he shook his head as he stepped closer to me with his hands in his pockets. "Just got to get on the roof." He said.

I chuckled softly, "well I'm no help to you then." I said and then turned to the window.

"I'm also hungry as well." He said randomly.

"There's some food in the storage room."

"Nah, I'm not hungry for that." He said and then stepped really close to me. I swallowed nervously and stepped back, only for him to get closer. "And you smell good."

"Get the fuck away from me." I hissed at him and pushed him, but he gripped my throat tightly, making it hard for me to breath. I gasped for air and tried to pull his hand off me, but he pulled me closer and bite right into my shoulder. I screamed out in agony as he pulled at the skin and went in for another bite. 

I could feel myself lose myself. Stars appeared in the room and my eyes rolled to the back of my head as he dug his teeth into my neck. 

I could feel the blood come up in my mouth but I choke on it as I gasped for air.

At least Mrs Lee, Jamie and I are on the same team now.
