CHAPTER FOURTEEN, carnival.

BRIELLE,

Today was a day where everyone was just lounging around the house. I was in the room, sitting on the bed, leaning on the headboard with my laptop on my lap. I was scrolling through everything I needed to take care of. Basically virtual errands, if I was to explain it.

There were light taps on my door, taking my attention off of my computer screen. "Yes?"

The door slowly opened, Danny walked in, closing the door behind him. "Can I come in?"

"Yes."

He plopped himself on the bed next to me over the blankets, laying on his stomach while hugging the pillow.

"I was bored and tired," he yawned. "I was watching a movie in the living room, but I wanted to bother you."

"When do you not?" I laughed. "I'm just doing some stuff on here."

"What is it?"

"Emails," I scrolled through them, "and some bank stuff."

"They got like a carnival or fair going on for the next week or so," Danny mumbled with his eyes closed, "do you wanna go tonight?"

"Yes, let's go!"

"We can leave the house by at least six or seven," he said, "I'm gonna take a nap, I can't sleep around them or else they're gonna do something. I'm fucking tired."

"Okay, that's fine." I softly laughed.

Danny woke up early this morning to go drive to the airport, where he picked up Kevin. Danny probably went to sleep late last night. I said hi to Kevin when I woke up this morning, and I'm pretty sure he's taking a nap as well. He seemed tired from his flight when he got here.

Danny was quiet after that, allowing me to turn my attention back to my laptop. He fell asleep really quick. The house was so quiet today... these were the only moments you would get the most quietness... was when they weren't fucking around.

Danny's breathing began to slow down while he let out soft breaths. After I finished, I closed my laptop, pushing my back up against the headboard to lean on. I went on my phone, checking anything else that I had missed just in case.

I saw that Danny had tagged me in a story post. It was a video of us yesterday driving together, with a caption, "she's starting to have the Danny Duncan effect 😂". I laughed, reposting the video on my story.

We took the van to the fair tonight, so we all rode in one car. We walked into the carnival, thankfully it wasn't as packed tonight. As we walked, I linked my arm with Danny's. We got some tickets, enough for us to play a good amount of games.

"Oh look," Danny pointed next to me, "ball toss! If you can't bat, you gotta know how to throw, right?"

"Duh." I smiled.

"Nuh-uh," Marsh said, "don't trust her, that's what she said when I asked if she could bat."

I gave the man my ticket, as he gave me three balls. I was confident enough, the distance was not far at all. I threw the first ball, hitting all of the bottles.

"Oh!" Danny put his hands up, "two more!"

I threw the balls, hitting all of them the second and third time. "I told you!" I pointed at Marsh. "I might be a better pitcher than you." The man handed me my prize, which was a medium sized stuffed animal.
