CHAPTER TWENTY, cleaning day.
BRIELLE,
The next morning, I woke up alone in bed. I felt nice when I woke up. By the time I was done washing up and doing my morning routine, it was almost ten-thirty. I had to cover the light marks that Danny left on my neck with makeup. Luckily, the rest were on my chest and I was able to cover it up with a shirt.
Today, Danny wanted to clean around the house before his party, so he didn't have to worry about it tomorrow. Mostly, they were focusing on cleaning around outside... but, there wasn't much to do, Danny kept his place clean enough.
As I finished mopping the floor, I also listened to Kewon rant to me about something he had going on. It seemed like something he needed to get off of his chest, since he's been talking the whole time since we started cleaning.
"I'm not the crazy one, right? Does it sound stupid?" He asked me with a sassy tone.
I shook my head, "no, it makes sense. It's not your fault for feeling that way, I would've felt the same way too."
"It's just so stupid," He said in frustration, causing me to chuckle. "How would you deal with something like this?"
"Don't stress it, Kewon. With stuff like this, sometimes it's—" Just then, the sound of the back door opening caused me to stop talking. "Talk later." I quickly said to him, earning a nod from him.
"Are you guys good in here?" Danny called out.
I looked back at Danny, seeing him about to step in with his slides on. "Don't," I quickly said, making him pause before he stepped a foot in, "take off your slides."
Danny laughed at me, leaving only his socks on before he came into the house. Kewon walked away from the area we were in, leaving me and Danny alone.
"I just came to check on you guys," Danny said as he walked past me. He put a hand on my hip, gently moving me out of the way. "It looks nice in here."
"Are you guys done cleaning outside?"
Danny nodded while he gulped down almost half of a water bottle. "Yeah, come outside. We're just chilling out there. We need to get something to eat too."
"I know, I was just thinking about that. I'm hungry."
Danny leaned against the counter, his body facing me. He picked his phone up off of the counter and his eyes glued to his screen. I began to put away all of the cleaning supplies, cleaning up whatever was left around me. I felt a soft poke on my neck.
"You covered it?" Danny pointed to my neck.
"Duh, I'm not gonna walk around with marks on my neck all day," I slightly raised my eyebrow at him, "it—"
Suddenly, he pulled my shirt down from my chest. "You didn't cover those."
I gently slapped his hand away from my shirt, "you're gonna stretch it out," I scolded him, "I don't need to, they're covered."
Danny sighed, "I had to take care of some stuff this morning for my party tomorrow. I got a call early this morning. I fucking hate planning things sometimes."
"At least we're here to help you, less things you have to take care of on your own," I said, "is everything good?"
"Yeah, it is. Thank you for cleaning," he put his phone back down, and began to walk off. "Come outside!"
"I will." I said as I fixed the collar of my shirt.
I picked up the full trash bag, tying its strings. I picked up my phone off of the counter, checking the time. It was a little past twelve. I then realized it wasn't mine as I saw the notifications and background. The phone was still open, as if it had not been turned off yet. It was Danny's phone, mine was on the other side of the counter.
The notifications were open, allowing me to read them. I saw the first message on the phone by accident.
BELLA
hellooo can i see you tonighttt? an early birthday present for youThe message right under it from someone named, 'Kelsey'. I shook my head, quickly turning the phone off, and grabbing mine.
It wasn't a surprise anyway; it was Danny. I didn't feel any type of way.I forgot I knew about Danny and his girl situations. He would tell me some things, but he never did talk a lot about it. He's been around me the whole time we've been here, so it didn't cross my mind he was seeing people... but, I didn't know if we was still talking to anyone. I just shrugged it off.
I brought the trash bag with me as I walked into the backyard. I walked past them, throwing the bag into the trash bin on the side of the house. Before I closed the lid, one of the guys came running towards me with a trash bag.
"Bri, wait! Don't close it!"
Danny felt his pockets, looking around. "Where did I leave my phone?"
"It's inside on the table, next to mine."
—
We walked on the pier of the beach together after we got done eating. We were just killing time, relaxing after we ate a big meal. Although, we got ice cream right after just to finish it off.
I finished mine, throwing the cup away in a trash bin that was right next to me. We began to walk off of the pier, heading back to the car. Danny walked next to me the whole time as he and I talked.
I crossed my arms together, hugging myself. "I don't have your present right now, but I'll have it when we go back to LA."
"You don't have to worry about that," he said shrugged, "I promise, I don't need a gift anyway."
"Doesn't mean you shouldn't have one."
"Later tonight I'm gonna stop by Josh's," Danny said taking his phone out from his pocket. "I was just gonna stop by for a little."
Josh's house, I chuckled to myself and nodded, "okay."
"What?" Danny asked, "why are you laughing?"
I shook my head, "nothing."
Danny put his arm around me, his hand trailing down my back, then down to my hip. He pulled me closer to his side, keeping his hand in place. The guys walked with us, minding their own business as they were in their own conversations. I kept my arms crossed, not saying anything else.
"Do you wanna come with me?"
I looked up at him as he completely changed my thoughts of what he really going to do tonight.
"Sure, I'll come with."
