🏥San Francisco Medical Center
Jordan peeked his head through the small window that looked into Lydia's room as her sister, mom, and Crystal had been in the room with her.
"Bro," Ralen says snapping Jordan out of his trance and he turns to see him holding out a cup of coffee to him.
"Nah I'm good," Jordan says looking back into the room and watching Lydia. "Bro you haven't slept or eaten since yesterday." He hasn't. He stayed up all night as Lydia slept and tried to wrap his head around what was happening.
"I don't know how any man could sleep knowing his wife does not remember who he is or even meeting him," Jordan says in a frustrated tone. Jordan was not upset at Lydia, he was upset about why he was dealt these cards in life. Things had been going so well between him and Lydia; and now this.
"Jordan she is alive. Many people who go through trauma like that don't make it out alive." Ralen begins to speak. "She is a blessing in all of our lives and right now we are going to help her get her memory back."
The door opens and walks out Layla who closes the door behind her. Jordan looks at her as she shakes her head and covers her face.
"I-I don't know," Layla quietly sobs. Jordan pulls her into a warm embrace and takes a deep sigh, rubbing her back.
"She doesn't remember anything that occurred these last few years." She says pulling away from Jordan and wiping her face. "She doesn't even remember that Dad died."
"Where is my sister because that is not her." Layla cries shaking her head. Jordan takes a deep breath before looking back into the room to see Lydia with her eyes closed. Her mom and Crystal had been at the bedside watching her.
Jordan walks into the room and they both look over at him giving him a soft smile. "I can take over while you guys take a breather. They have a cafeteria downstairs." Jordan softly speaks. Lydia's eyes open and she watches Jordan closely.
Who is this man?
"Thank you Jordan," Monica says standing up and pulling him a hug. "I need some coffee," Crystal says getting up and looking back at Lydia. She gave her a look of worry and Crystal takes hold of her hand.
"Don't leave," Lydia quietly says.
"It's okay. You are safe here with Jordan." She says and points over to Jordan who stood at the end of the bed.
"Please," Lydia pleads, and Jordan's heart pangs. She doesn't even know who I am.
"Okay fine. It's okay!" Crystal says looking over Monica who had teary eyes. "Mom will go downstairs to get something to eat while Jordan and I stay with you," Crystal says sitting back down.
"You want anything, Crystal?" Monica asked heading to the door. "No, I'm fine."
"Jordan?"
"No I'm fine," Jordan says walking to the other side of the bed. Lydia closely watches as he pulls a chair to the bedside and sits down. She quickly looks away before fiddling with the hem of her blanket. Monica walks out of the room giving Lydia a reassuring look before heading out.
The room fell silent as Jordan and Crystal watched Lydia look down at her hands. Her bare hands. While Lydia was in the coma, he took her wedding ring and band off, so that nobody would steal it.
"So Lydia this is Jordan," Crystal says directing her attention to Jordan who gave Lydia a small smile as she stared at him. "He was here at your bedside for the last few weeks while you were in the coma," Crystal explains.
