Lydia POV
"He got any friends?" My cousin Crystal asked as we walked through Homegoods looking for new decor for my studio. Renovations had been going great! We are about 75% done which is really nice!
"He does have a few friends," I say looking at a few paintings in the wall art section. "You gatekeeping ass bitch! Put me on!" She says and I laugh.
"There is Donte, JK, Moody, and more but I only really talk to them," I say and she nods while pushing the cart.
"So how are you and your man?" Hmm, how are we?
Flashback
"Jordan I'm not doing this with you," I say in an annoyed tone as I had been leaving the studio after speaking with the contractor. We thought long distance would work for us but as his basketball season goes and my work life, it was so hard for us to visit each other on a daily basis.
"Then don't," He bluntly says and I roll my eyes. "Is there an issue?" I ask walking to my truck and getting in. I turn the ignition on and wait for my Bluetooth to connect.
"No," He says and I kiss my teeth. "Your tone over text message says a little different," I say and I hear him kiss her teeth.
"Lydia I'm not doing this with you. I'm tired and I had a long day." He says and I roll my eyes. "Jordan I'm literally asking for ten minutes of your busy day to talk to me and that is the bare fucking minimum." I start.
"All I wanted to do was talk to you about your day and see how you are!" I say and shake my head. "Is that cutting into your time or what?" I ask.
"Lydia,"
You know something Jordan, I will talk to you later. I hope you get a good night's rest and wake up with a fresh mind." And with that, I ended the call.
Flashback Over
"Girl!" Crystal says pinching my arm. "You ended the call on him?"
"I sure did," I say looking at her as she shook her head. "Like I understand he is going through a lot right now but I'm so tired of getting the shit end of the stick. I tell him all the time, you can talk to me, even if it's me just staying on the phone while you talk about how you feel." I explain. "But he does not get that."
"That's how men are though," Crystal says and I nod. "They don't like talking about how they feel. Something with their masculinity." Crystal waves off and I smile.
"As much as I love you being in New York, you do have to realize that you and Aria being away from him is also affecting him," Crystal says as we walk down the bedding aisle. "I know." I sigh.
"So what are we doing about that?" Crystal asked. "Well the renovations-"
"Lydia," Crystal says and looks at me. "What?"
"You need to see Jordan," She says and I nod. "I mean like get on a flight type shit and go see him. He needs you right now. Renovations can wait." She is right.
----
Jordan had been going through it. Mentally and physically. He was tired. With his mom being in the hospital and the pressure of basketball, he had been going through a lot. After another long day of practice, he came home, showered, and ordered food.
"Wings," He trails off looking through his food delivery service app. Once he places his order, he sets his phone down on the counter before resting his head in his hands. It's been hard not having Lydia and Aria around even though it was temporary, but he needed them during times like this! He hears his doorbell ring and his head pops up.
