Chapter 23

Natalie's body formed into a liquid mass in front of Sam. She was standing in front of him, her whole body was nothing but water. Yet she was able to speak.

"The curse itself has powerful locks. It is taking me some time to destroy them. I estimate that it will take me all night." said Natalie.

"That's good news. If it's possible to end the curse, then it's possible. But Natalie, I'm afraid I'm going to have to leave you here. Will you be fine on your own?" he said.

"You're leaving me? Why the sudden change of priorities? You were so dead set on not leaving me to my duties." teased Natalie, smiling through her voice. Sam smiled in return and shook his head.

"The Dark Impulse in this mountain is very strong. And I sense that Tyrone and Matt are in danger." he said.

"The boys?! Save them!" cried Natalie.

"Don't worry my love. I will. And not just them. But the others as well. We are in for a big battle on this mountain." said Sam.

"You seem to be excited about this." said Natalie.

"It nights like these that make me feel alive..." replied Sam, his eyes glowing yellow.

Matt and Uriel were running through the dark forest. Matt couldn't see anything. There was darkness all around him. Uriel on the other hand was all over him. As Matt ran, he heard the squeals and screams of creatures he couldn't see in the dark. He did see yellow glowing spheres in the darkness, only for them to blink out, followed by a scream or a squeal as mentioned before. Uriel was striking down anything that came out of the dark and Matt just kept running on his instructions. As he did, there were times he spotted his red eyes appearing in an instant, then vanish, then reappear.

"Don't stop running!" roared Uriel. As Matt continued, he felt Uriel stop him by grabbing his shoulders.

"Don't move a muscle." he whispered in Matt's ear in the darkness.

Matt didn't speak or say anything else. He heard large footsteps coming into the dark. Matt couldn't see anything, but he closed his eyes and then opened them again, hoping to make out something. Of course, there was nothing but blackness. But Uriel kept his hands on his shoulders, not letting him go. Eventually, Matt saw two large yellow eyes appear from somewhere. He could hear the massive foot steps it was taking and walking slowly, making hooting noises and little growls.

"It's a Dilophosaurus." whispered Uriel in Matt's ear. Matt then felt scared! He knew what that was. A dinosaur. An actual living breathing dinosaur! In OREGON! ON MT. HOOD!

"Don't be fooled. It's a dark impulse monster brought to life. How it came to be, I don't know." said Uriel.

Just then, there was a light. A fire! And the Dilophosaurus that appeared vanished into black smoke and out came warrior bunnies from the darkness. They had small torches and standing behind the bunnies was none other than Gannon and Garret.

"Fancy meeting you here!" cried Gannon.

"Uriel! Matt! Aren't you two a sight for sore eyes!" cried Garret, who looked like he was about to throw up.

"So, you two are here as well. And you are alive. Impressive." said Uriel, sounding very sarcastic.

"You're grace, I'll have you know our training paid off. Of course we made it out alive! For now." said Gannon.

"We're gonna die. We're gonna die. I know we are dead." said Garret.

"Stop with the gloom and doom everyone! We must head back to our camp!" ordered Elder Wilkinson.

Matt didn't say a word. At this point, he was no longer questioning things. Uriel on the other hand nodded and walked beside the warrior bunnies.

"We better go quick. The Dark Impulse has gotten much stronger here." he said, his red eyes starting to flicker.

The bunnies lowered their faces towards Uriel and whispered among each other. "Lord Mothman. Lord Mothman."

"Yes yes, he's a Mothman. But he's not like the leader or anything like that." said Gannon.

"Show respect Gannon! He's Uriel. He's the blood man!" cried Garret.

"Blood man?" asked Matt.

"Yeah. He's the only Mothman known to actually "kill" his enemies." said Garret.

"We're not allowed to off our enemies unless we are ordered to and this guy gets to do it whenever he pleases!" said Gannon.

"I can hear you, you know." said Uriel.

Gannon grumbled in his teeth while Matt walked beside the group.

"Have you seen Tyrone and Destiny?" asked Matt to Garret.

"Yeah! They are back at camp!" said Garret.
