Chapter 7
The first thing Tyrone did the following day was make breakfast. Then he heard two loud footsteps coming from the porch. Tyrone instantly recognized the sound and went over to answer. He couldn't believe his eyes. The Mothman has returned. He stood at the door, looking very weak and tired. His black furry body was singed and he was struggling to breathe. Tyrone quickly helped him inside and he then noticed his red eyes were blinking on and off as if they were lights from the street.
"What happened to you?" cried Tyrone.
"I'll explain. But first... water." said the Mothman weakly.
Tyrone ran over to get a glass while Matt went downstairs.
"Mothman!" cried Matt as he ran to meet him.
"Give him this." said Tyrone, handing a glass of water to Matt who then gave it to the injured Mothman.
"Are you two boys alright?" asked the Mothman.
"Y-yes! We are." replied Tyrone.
"Nothing has happened over the past few days?" asked the Mothman.
"No. We've been here the whole time." said Matt.
"Good. However, it is no longer safe anywhere." said the Mothman as he sat back.
"My bones. How they ache." he said softly with a groan.
"What happened to you?" asked Matt.
"I saw visions of the curse. The snow falling from the sky, ruining the outside world. Then the portals closed and Rood Bridge Park heavily protected with its invisible armor. And then I saw terrible things. You, Matt and the rest of your friends and family are in grave danger!" said the Mothman.
"How did you escape Rood Bridge Park?" asked Tyrone.
"I had to dabble in forbidden arts to get here. It was not easy. I had to consult with Dark Impulse users to arrive here." said the Mothman.
"Dark Impulse? Isn't that like a dark power that's evil?" asked Tyrone.
"Not all Dark Impulse users are bad Tyrone. There are a few that were willing to help me. And thanks to a few good people, I was able to arrive to warn you of the dangers you are now going to face." replied the Mothman.
"So, this Dark Impulse. Does it have something to do with the kidnapped children?" asked Matt nervously.
"Yes! That is the work of a Dark Impulse user. Who his mystery person is, no one knows." said the Mothman.
"But you see visions. You can see things we cannot." said Tyrone.
"There are unfortunately limits to my powers. My visions are not something that I can control. They come to me, either I like it or not. It is more of a curse than a blessing." said the Mothman.
"I'm sorry. I'm asking you too much questions. But you know so much more than we do. If we are in danger, what kind of danger are we talking about?" asked Tyrone.
"Bryan is angry. You see, Matt hit him." said the Mothman.
"I had to! He was going to hurt Tyrone!" cried Matt, recalling the time they last faced the Viscount.
"Yes and it hurt him. It actually hurt him and nothing in Rood Bridge Park can harm him. I have reasons to believe that Viscount Bryan is responsible for the Eternal Winter Curse." said the Mothman.
"Then this means that the kidnapper is a totally different thing? The snow has nothing to do with the missing kids?" asked Tyrone.
"No. They are two separate problems all together." said the Mothman.
"Sam and Natalie went with Gannon and Garret to Mt. Hood. It's been a week now and I'm starting to worry." said Tyrone.
"A week already? Dang." said Matt.
The Mothman rose up and stared at the door.
"Tyrone, Matt. Listen to me. And listen to me well." he said, not taking his gaze away from the door.
"Sam and Natalie are missing, along with Gannon and Garret. They were lost in the drive to Mt. Hood." said the Mothman.
"W-what?" asked Matt in disbelief.
"No." said Tyrone.
"You two must save them. Go and find them! I know you will find them. I saw you in a vision.... But you must go! Take Bubbles! Go!" cried the Mothman.
In that instant, cloaked shadows emerged from the door and the Mothman pushed them away by pushing a powerful air with his wings.
"Run!" roared the Mothman. Tyrone and Matt ran to the kitchen and grabbed Bubbles.
"Throw him! Throw him!" cried the Mothman as he kept on keeping the shadows at bay.
Matt threw Bubbles into the air and then he grew into a massive size. The boys quickly got on his shell and in that instant, Bubbles pushed the walls of the kitchen apart. He ran on top of what was once the window and he ran into the snow.
The Mothman saw them disappear into the distance and created a massive fireball with his hands.
"Leave!" he roared. He threw the fireball at the creatures and they exploded. After they vanished, a tall lanky figure appeared. The Mothman stood his ground.
"Lord Mothman. Your time has come." said the shadowy figure with a skull instead of a face. His voice was deep and very strong.
"Grelle." the Mothman said.
"You remembered my name. How wonderful. Lord Bryan has contacted me and told me his situation. He paid me good money for me to behead the chosen ones." said the creature.
"Should the Grim Reaper Order ever learn of your violations of the laws between life and death, your scythe would be taken from you and down to Hell you would go." said the Mothman.
"Please Mothman. I am already living in Hell. I'm part of Death. And I get to experience the pleasures of money and wealth in Rood Bridge Park. And since I was paid for a job, I will get the job done. Which is to claim the soul of Mateo Garcia and Tyrone Oaks." said Grelle.
"You will not touch them!" cried the Mothman.
Grelle pulled out his rather long and shiny scythe. "Then fight me to the last. Show me the powers you and your kind boast."
The Mothman wisely stood back, and opened his large black wings to blow air against Grelle. The skeleton was flown away while the Mothman flew up into the sky.
"Long live Imani!" he cried.
"Peace and Profit!" cried Grelle from below. He snapped his fingers and two large demon hounds appeared before him.
"Hunt down the boys. Let me know where they go next." said Grelle.
The demon hounds which looked a lot like massive Dobermans howled up into the sky and they all ran into the thick snow.
