Rajveer's meetup with her parents had went smoother than she expected. If she didn't know any better, she would have been sure that they all were his family and she was there to be introduced. But then again, her family couldn't be blamed.
First, he had made his entry decked up in an all black five piece suit. His hair was windswept and him occasionally running his long, slender fingers through them just added to the effect. He was looking so temptingly handsome that even her mother — as disturbing as that thought was — forgot to blink for a moment. But jokes apart, she knew it was the charisma of his personality that affected not only ladies but everyone. He had that aura to grab the spotlight, to become the center of attention. Wherever he went. One just couldn't take their eyes off him, such was his charm.
Second, he had brought tokens of gratitude for each one of them for ‘inviting’ him over their house — hn! as if, he wouldn't have visited anyway.
And third, he was behaving so warmly with her family, his attitude towards them so deferent, that they all were impressed in an instant. She couldn't tell if it was a charade to impress them or he was genuine but it certainly did the magic. So much that when he suggested her marriage date not be changed — which was 19 days from now — and get married on the finalized day, her family hadn't even bated an eye before agreeing.
“...we need to inform them all. We have so many relatives and I want all of them at Mairu's wedding.” - Yashwant told Rajveer frankly.
Right that moment, Yashwant was busy going through the guest list with Kavin to make them known that the wedding wasn't cancelled. Just a minor change of groom had taken place.
Sonia was busy talking on phone, Natasha right beside, probably informing relatives while Anjana had retired to her room to rest. And the bride to be was leaned against a pillar, quietly observing everything. Rajveer, who was leaned against a drawer table, a mug of Sonia's handmade coffee in his hands, smirked at her at Yashwant's answer because he was the one who had questioned Yashwant why was he going through the guest list again. She became alert, sensing some mischief and subconsciously walked towards him.
“But that won't be possible Dad.” - he said, addressing her father as dad because on the third call of ‘Mr. Purohit’ by him had her father granting him to call him Dad ‘like Mairu’. But honestly, she felt sympathetic when Yashwant asked him about his family and he told them he had none.
“My father died when I was 7. Then my father's faithful friend looked after me who also died a couple of months ago.” - he had told them in a slightly melancholic voice.
“What is not possible son ?” - Yashwant asked with furrowed brows.
Rajveer straightened and pointed towards the guests' matter by his hand. “This whole inviting the guest and having festivities at home a week before the marriage.”
“But why ?”
Rajveer smiled innocently. “Because Samaira has expressed her desire to get married underwat-”
“Oh he's just joking Dad don't take him seriously.” - she was standing right next to him in a flash and interrupted with a nervous chuckle.
“But Samaira, you did say that-”
Her hand slipped into his as she interlocked their fingers and silenced him effectively. He looked down at their joined hands, a warmth spreading throughout his body and then looked at her.
Her eyes were boring into his, cautioning him to not mess with her but it was the presence of her soft and small hand in his that held him hostage.
“Mairu if you have any plans for your wedding than you can tell me dear...” - Yashwant encouraged gently, sensing that she wasn't letting Rajveer speak.
